Yes. I was just 16 when I watched Tyson destroy Berbick LIVE ON ITV1 in nov 1996. He was incredible. Here was this man only 4 years older than me, I’m 10 stone he’s nearly 16 stone and is an absolute wrecking machine. I’ve always loved Mike. But I say this- if this is a real fight it shouldn’t be happening, and Jake should take a convincing dive as a TRIBUTE to the great Mike Tyson. If he beats up a 58 year old hero of boxing, he deserves to be the most hated man around.

If you're in your 50's and still running marathons, cycling, doing whatever and staying active, most 50+ year old's will tell you they feel no different to when they were in their 30's. This is what Tyson was talking about. You can't explain it until you reach it yourself. Clearly Mike is nowhere near his prime, but you still don't want to step in a ring with him with only a few of years of boxing experience, he can still put a dude to sleep with one punch. He's been fighting most of his life, from street fights in his teens to fighting some of the biggest dudes in boxing. Tyson will be peek-a-booing and causing trouble for Jake, and I believe will knock Jake out, assuming none of this is all scripted.

I’m 54. I was 16 when I watched Mike Tyson destroy Trevor Berbick in two rounds to become the youngest heavyweight champ in history. He astounded me. Here was I, a skinny 16 year old scottish kid, wondering at this incredible man only 4 years older than me. I watched that fight on itv1 because they used to show the fights for FREE in the 1980’s. But at 54 myself, and I know I haven’t been a boxer like Mike, but believe me- you are only a SHADOW of the man you were at 25. I could actually handle myself 30 years ago but I sure wouldn’t want to fight anyone aged 26 right now. I simply am too old to expect to win against a young man. The AGE catches up with you. You puff out in half a minute in a fight in your 50’s unless you have lived a VERY clean life, no drinking, no drugs etc- and Mike hasn’t lived that life. I should say, Mike LIVES his life the way HE wants to live it. Nothing wrong with that, if you are NOT fighting a 26 year old very very fit man. I hope, if Jake has ANY humanity in him, he will see Mike tiring out and take a dive after a decent punch, in TRIBUTE TO A BOXING LEGEND. Jake would not lose any ‘fans’ but GAIN them. However- I don’t think Jake has it in him to let Tyson win. If he beats up Mike he will be the most hated man in the sport. Period. If this is a real fight it shouldn’t be happening.

I’m 38, and Mike was my idol growing up in the 90s. I had a big poster of him on my wall. Everyone asked me “why do you have that animal on your wall? He bites people’s ears off.” Well, that animal was my idol. I lost a lot of family as a kid.. 3 of my 4 grandparents passed away in a 2 year span.. I always had Mikes fights to look forward to. The intensity that he fought with was admirable. He was in there fighting his own demons, but I feel like he was fighting mine too. This fight is going to be Mikes last hoorah, and I’m going to watch every second of it. I will be very emotionally invested in this fight.. and I hope Mike doesn’t get hurt or knocked out. He needs to be very cautious, and respect the age gap. Let’s go Mike! Get it done!

Mike Tyson is an example of the nature / nurture debate about the human condition. He had a very harsh and unstable upbringing that triggered a violent response. Yet there was a kind and loving core that shone through even in his fighting years and particularly after.

@@TheJosip1000yup, only an old Tyson would be convinced of this anyways, fighting for a reason other than winning. He's become much more savvy in his late years. I will admit he seems like he's serious, but he's only the scariest dude ever lol if anyone were to actually ever do this it would be him, also Jake is a bit of a clown so he could have decent reason as well.

People don't give Tyson credit for how sharp and quick he is because it's often overshadowed by some of his awkwardness and the fact that we're not used to seeing people in the public spotlight who either don't engage in or just don't have the performative social niceities and almost "fakeness" that we're used to seeing. The fact that Tyson dropped Dog Day Afternoon as a film of Pacino's he loves when Kimmel asked about Scarface showed how fast he was and absolutely authentic he is. Also who knows if this fight will be "predetermined" or not, but I'd love to see Tyson win and go hard and not hold back the way he held back in the Jones fight.
@paolozmm
@paolozmm Ай бұрын
Not to take away from the positive nature of your comment, but naming another movie that Pacino is in hardly infers you are sharp. Especially if you rate the movie. Most folks wouldn't sit there going 'mmmm, ehhhhh' before answering if its something that the think is true and its something they truly like.
@nothingflat

you are just a kid, and maybe kids in your age think that way, but a grown adult man would have to be blind and in coma for 20 years to not realize that mike is high iq and eq, this is why he was so dangerous. and as the @paolozmm said pacino bit wasnt even that here.
