He not only owe James Brown for his dancing abilities, He also owe the street dancers from Detroit and New York Because, the dances that he did in 85 like [the moon walk ,pop Locking ,and water waving ],we were doing in 79 and 80. He copy what he saw a lot of the break dances of the time were doing like the pop locking and waterway and yes you guessed even the moon walk. Michael Jackson was a great entertainer and a great dancer but he owes a lot of his dancing skills to more than just James Brown he owes a lot of the hip-hop community of New York and Detroit Street dances

Always said you couldn't compare the to dances because, they were great at what they did for their era. Michael Jackson was Old School Street hip hop dance with a little bit of Fred Astaire/ Gene Kelly .MC Hammer was the New Jack Swing party hype dancers .Trying to compare the two was like trying to compare apples to oranges. They were both great dancers and both were great entertainers 😁👍

Michael Jackson stated he was primarily influenced by James Brown. He has paid homage to the works of Fred & Gene but he was also influenced by the same people that infuenced Gene (who said he "stole from everybody" like Buck and Bubbles and Bill Robinson) & Fred who shared similar influences. MJ also studed under the Nicolas Brothers in their later years.

That was well put together I really enjoyed and appreciate this. In my opinion both are great artist I’m referring to the art of dance. A dancer will see another dancer do a move and say “wow that was slick and instantly put it in his or her repertoire.” But, they will make it their own. The style of dance is what we know had an influence on the artist. So all dancers take from other dancers it’s been like that since the beginning. Long live the art of dancing.
