From the days when Saturday night tv was simply brilliant! Just watching this clip fills me with happy memories and you can see the "polish" those great shows had back then.

Entertainers like him in those days we're so talented unlike the rubbish we watch today those days it was real variety Mike what a STAR act
@MrDaiseymay Жыл бұрын
ABSOLUTELY; his loss is a double reminder, of how our favourite entertainer's are slowly slipping away, especillay when they have been off our screens for quite some time, it's a even greater reminder, of how 'entertainment' it'self, had degenerated into utter boredom. I was distracted from the news on Sunday the 9th, as it was MY 82nd Birthday, both he and I, born in 1941. R.I.P Mike, and thank you ,very much.

Im only 20 years old when my Dad introduced me to Mike Yarwood i couldn't stop laughing, i mean what a legend without shadow of doubt one of the greatest entertainers ever !

I think some of the people that say he wasn’t any good are not English. He was of his time, and he was fantastic. Some f his musical impressions may not have been that great, but he gave it his all, and a lovely man who gave us all Brits years of great entertainment , and what ever he is doing now I wish him well.

Great memories of going to School in the 70's and listening to everyone doing impressions of mike yarwood doing who ever. Yes he may not be as good as Longthorne or bremner but its still pretty good.

Apparently his work dried up, leading to depression, surprised nobody offered him a singing gig because he could hold a note, and an audience, I suppose back in the day you were pigeonholed. An amazing talent.
@MrDaiseymay Жыл бұрын
There are other issues, that may be related. He apparently, and Suprisingly, had extreme Stage nervousness, and relied heavily on alcohol, which got worse. Plus, his gentle 'mickey-t'aking' but accurate impersonations, were being replaced by a more vicious and crude style, as personified by the likes of Ben Elton, and his 'NEW Wave Comedy. Elton even ridiculed the 'TWO RONNIES' humour. much to Ronnie Barker's Chagrin.

simply the best..no impersonater today comes close to this guy. love ya mike you gave me many happy hours glued to the tely in the 70s n 80s hope you are doing ok now mate it would be great to see you back on tv again to show these muppets how its done properly

What Mike Yarwood lacked in vocal impressions he made up for in facial expressions he had those spot on especially his Steptoe but some of his impressions were very good for that era

To be fair to Mike, as a guy who can do a few impressions at a professional level, it's hard to progress through the decades keeping relevant! He was popular in the 70's because there were no contenders. I was too young!!!

hi there, hows the weather there or dont i need to ask ha! well personaly i think mike is the best mimic to come out of england. jon culshaw is very good at some impessions but not to hot on others. rory bremmner is very good also possibly beter than mike but you cant compare an impressionest from the 70s to one from the 90s and present day simply because they take of diffrent people. but theres some-thing special about yarwood his face cam siply become anybodys. cheers

Hated the repeated canned laughter Thames used it was used in every single sitcom of the 70s

Never thought that his singing impressions were particularly good. As if he was embarrassed about doing them.

I loved him as a kid but watching him now, especially doing Frankie Howard @ 3:11 , he really wasn't very good. I'm amazed he was so successful.

Its not frankie howerd, it's Larry Grayson
@dlamiss8 жыл бұрын
the original comment is correct its Frankie Howerd
@billcobbett92595 жыл бұрын
He was successful because he was the first and there was no competition. But looking back, and comparing him to the newer boys like Jon Culshaw, Phil Cornwell, and John Sessions, you realise that his own voice was still prominent in everything he did.
@LPCLASSICAL2 жыл бұрын
@@billcobbett9259 there was competition - there were hundreds of impressionists but he was the best. His facial expressions was his strong point - steptoe - larry grayson - dennis healey etc. The singing ones are boring and he was an average club singer but he had to pad out his 1 hour show and have some variety. I watched rory bremner recently and honestly was not that impressed.
@lfcmonkeyyyman62292 жыл бұрын
Just please don't sing Mike.. the voices are good, but every singing impression sounds the same
@craig155310 жыл бұрын
Yarwoods impressions were OK for that particular era, however, his singing was quite horrendous, I used to cringe as a kid whenever he broke into a song.
