I learned to solve blind in 2016 but never succeeded. When I saw you upload the original video, I was so mad with myself because I gave up and you didn't. After that, in January 2019, I tried it again and did it in my first try. Now, I could solve it blindfolded in under a minute (there's a video in my channel btw) and it was all because of you Mike. Now I'm one of the top blindfolded solvers in Vietnam and my times have been improving day by day. You inspired me to finish what I've started and I couldn't be more grateful. You are truly amazing!

@@megaming3285 Getting sub 1 in blind is pretty hard, you need to learn a lot more than just a few algorithms, definitely not possible using old pochmann. I'd say you could probably learn it in a month if you really wanted to but it depends on how good of a cuber you already are

Tip for the future: learn algs with eyes open, as sometimes you can figure out what to do at the end with intuition. Once the alg is built into muscle memory, it's easy to do it blind.

For anyone starting out with Rubik’s cubes and are having trouble memorizing the algorithms, I completely recommend trying both and/or one of these: Write down all algorithms you need to know on a sticky note, and then write a bunch of notes until you fill up a normal sized piece of paper with sticky notes. The other method you can try is just taking a note full of the algorithms and having it next to you while you solve, don’t feel bad solving with a guide, that’s what I did. As you continue getting used to what you need to do and the moves the algorithms require, you can cross them out from your sticky note, until eventually you remember all of them. Or you can look at a video for help idk do whatever you want.

Yeah many people HUGELY underestimate their capabilities. Basically every normal person who does not have any learning disabilities, is able to be successful and rich, or learn anything and everything they wish to learn. The thing that's stopping most people is their lack of patience, lack of confidence, or their attitude/mindset towards general learning. And when I say they hugely underestimate their capabilities, I really mean that. The brain may not be as fast and accurate as a modern computer, but the amount of information that you can memorise and store is so immense that you wouldn't be able to reach your limits even after 500 years. And the more you learn, the more your brain becomes accustomed to it, thus making learning such as memorisation FAR easier as time passes. And actually, if you're someone who's into learning as a hobby, the best way to tell how much your learning skills are improving is learning decimals of PI. Learn the first 100 digits, record how long it took you, and then come back after 5 or 10 years of actively partaking in your hobby, and learn the next 100 digits of PI, and the difference should be immense, especially if you fully learn to understand how you brain processes and memorises information best, and thus use appropriate learning techniques that work best for you.

What difference does it make? Sure, it's a shortcut when writing. But F is one syllable like front, R is one syllable like right and L is one syllable like left. It's not a shortcut if it's the same amount of syllables

Don't even need a story, can easily get sub-5min without any memo techniques. I use words for corners, and sounds for edges averaging around 1:50 with little practise. (Am using M2/OP tho in stead of OP/OP cuz that's the only method I've ever learned for bld)

When he said that the edges and centre’s made the 3x3 more complex than the 2x2, he never realised that the centres don’t actually move anywhere, they just rotate, so they don’t make the cube any harder, only the edges make the puzzle harder to navigate.

Mike you should genuinely give solving the 5x5x5 Blindfolded a shot. I went from learning to solve the 2x2x2 blindfolded in a couple hours, 3x3x3 blindfolded over the next week, and then after that, it took me about a full week to learn all of the algorithms and parities and special cases but I was very determined. And then, I finally gave it a shot, and on my first attempt, I successfully solved the 5x5x5 blindfolded. It took me just over 42 minutes to solve. And just to make sure that it wasn’t a fluke solve, I attempted it again the next day with a completely new scramble and I successfully solved it in 29 minutes 14 seconds. The moral of all of this: If you put your mind to something, anything is possible and you can make anything happen!!!

J Perm's 3BLD tutorial only requires 3 algs - T, Y without the F moves at the start and end, and Ra. Learning that would've been much easier right? Also, you should try and find patterns (such as R U R' U' aka sexy move) in algorithms - it is often much easier to remember. 6:52 you forgot to do the "parity alg" Ra perm

Just as a suggestion, don't memorise alogarithms as Mike did. Try to find patterns. Like if you memorise the T perm that Mike was memorising you can just use the same algorithm to memorise just perm since j perm is just a reorder of t perm.

Your videos inspired me to learn that. It felt like it was impossible at first, mainly because there are 40+ algorithms and cause memorizing the letters before solving can be painfull at first lol. Now, a couple months after I started I feel like it’s not really that hard. The algs can even be learned intuitively and even if you try to memorize them it’s easy since they’re very short (0 to 4 moves). It’s been 3 months and now I’m learning the advanced method (3-style). There are around 800 algorithms but you can learn them intuitively and even come up with your own algs.

Nice man, I'm doing the same thing. My big regret is that I didn't start filming years ago because I've learned unicycling, speedcubing, tray spinning etc and I DIDN'T MAKE A SINGLE VIDEO!!! Film everything mate, that's my advice ha ha, good luck.

It’s impressive that you skipped from casualty solving a Rubik’s cube to blindfolded solving Usually it’s a lot easier for learn for speedcubers since all of these algorithms are pre-existing knowledge that are in their muscle memory already

Muscle memory is something that its so cool to see in action, its like we are baking a movement or something into our hands, i do magic and this is amazing, i see my hands moving in a smooth way after 5000 tries, its amazing.

agree, I quit blind solving a 3x3 for a while and I use an advanced technique than what mike use (he only uses 5 and I use 27), those moves are pretty long but my fingers still knows how to move them despite not making any sense to me anymore and I would make mistakes whenever I try to think about them instead of letting my fingers move freely
