First my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Mexico city and the area around. My hearts go out to our neighbors to the south. The city will survive and life will go on, I lived in Los Angeles in '94 during the Northridge earthquake and I understand your pain and the feelings your feeling. The city will come together and help, out of tragedy comes hope and rebuilding. It is messed up that it hit on the anniversary of the '85 earthquake. Glad you and your girl and her family are ok. Keep filming and show the city and watch how it heels itself. Document this, it will help you. I went around after the '94 quake and took pics and still have them. They still help me, many of my friends home's got red tagged and couldn't live there anymore. But life will go on! Make sure you tell the people of Mexico that their neighbors to the north are thinking about them and sending prayers!

In 2010 there was a 7.2 earthquake in Mexicali Baja California MX, I was there, only two people died because our homes are built to resist earthquakes but it was traumatizing, I slept in the living room, had nightmares, after this earthquake happened (Mexico City) and I watched the videos I literally stopped sleeping until the sun came out because that feeling of fear came back, I’m glad you’re okay, not a lot of people get how traumatizing this is.

Btw I was in Tepic, Nayarit when the 1985 earthquake. I felt a ripple effect wave. Not very intense as the 1994 Northridge earthquake. my kids havent experience any. In 1971 sylmar earthquake my parents experienced that big one..... be safe Im gonna have my notifications on. Will you be doing daily vlog series? Please do I like to see first hand. I was on bed rest that day. I couldn't get up on my own. But I did my best to get out of the house. Its the third quake Im in. And it's scary. God bless that lost Everything and family members.

Something like this happened to me when I was in elementary school only it was t an earthquake it was an intruder. That morning we had an intruder drill then a couple hours later there was another one and we were all so confused until we realized it was real and my class was in the library for the book fair at them time and we had to hide under the big book fair book case things and it was scary... nobody got hurt though the police came and everything was okay

It was a horrible experience for all of us in Mexico City. I was in a 4th floor when it happened, and you are right, there was no way people could've made it down to the main floor. I had to run up to the roof as quick as I could. It's the best option for those on the top floors. I really though the building was going to collapse since it's kind of going sideways since the 1985 earthquake, I've been told. I'm definitely moving out soon.

Hey Mike, we were so sad to hear about this and strikes closer to home knowing that a friend was effected. Thoughts and positive energy to everyone in that incredible city. I'm so glad you both are fine I have been worried all day about you both. I'm so sorry you saw that building fall I heard this afternoon there were 60 people who lost they're lives but not sure that was accurate. I can't imagine going through a 7 on the Richter scale that had to be the worse feeling ever. You will need each other for comfort for awhile. Please keep us up. Kateri Burnett there are more than 150 death's according to our government, 22 ( at least ) of them were children's trapped in a school ( a kindergartner actually ). Mexico City was built in a place which use to be a lake, that magnifies​ the earthquake strength up to 100x times

I remember going to school and just seeing everyone in complete shock, also I remember we donated HUMONGOUS amounts of food and meds to those poor affected people. Until today, there are a lot of people who are still homeless

I live une hour away from CD.MX. my school suffered some damage, they canceled all activity for the day and today, and they usually don't do that. Supposedly the third floor was damaged.

I'm researching the Sept 19 Quakes in Mexico because tomorrow is Sept 19, 2023. The area of land involved is 0.1% of the surface of the earth. That makes it 1,000 times less likely. The math says that somebody is causing these Quakes. This is not a joke. It's in the math.

I live close to the Viaducto/Monterrey collapsed building area, was at home when earthquake hit and there were some things kinda blurry or confusing that your video helped me to check and connect. Well, if it was your first earthquake, and a big one at that, nothing can prepare you for the experience. Nothing. The next time will be a little bit easier for you. It doesn't help that the city is built on an old lake bed which intensifies the shaking by many percent and it was centered close by. As a result of my first in Los Angeles we slept outside for the first two nights with aftershocks running through the land every hour on the hour. And, by the way, I've seen about 8 of these first-hand reports and yours was the best or the most immediate and honest. I write this in March of 2018 and there have been other quakes since. It would be interesting to me to find out how well you are adapting to the situation as it unfolded over the months. I live in Seattle and we are waiting for our 9.0 megaquake to strike, which is a quake worth about 100 of that 7.1 that this report included. My mind can't imagine what that will be like if it hits during my lifetime.

It's the only disaster where shelter serves the opposite purpose. I almost didn't film the experience, and honestly I haven't watched it since. I was broken open that day, I don't think I ever need to play this video back and live it again.

You have to remember that there wasn't just 1 earthquake on September of 2017 in Mexico City (there were 2). The first earthquake had it's epicenter in Oaxaca in September 12th 2017 and it was felt in the capital city of Mexico around 11 pm (LOCAL TIME) with a magnitude of 7.8 RICHTER (NO FATALITIES were recorded in that first earthquake and many buildings got damaged). And then the second quake came in September 19th 2017 around 1:20 pm (LOCAL TIME); where a lot of bridges and buildings collapsed (leaving as well many people INJURED or DEAD)
