At 56 years old I'm looking for a bike to learn how to ride. Never to old I hope. I am restoring a 69 CB350 and I do not want to be a total beginner on her. So far it’s made a nice difference installing that Nibbi 30mm carb on the Templar. Man that sucks about looping out on your KDX. Those KDX 200 bikes are fantastic on the trails! I really liked mine. 😊👍

On my GY6 that giant knob makes it easy to adjust idle, but my carb is wide open and I can just reach down at a traffic light to tweak it if needed. I can see if it were buried being a pain though.

Mike, we refer to the stock tires on the Templars as "big wheel tires" and if your of a certain age you know exactly what that implies...we're on the fence as to whether a set of gummys would ruin some of the fun and liveliness of these things. Love the gummys on my 300 2 stroke but thats a very different experience.

Haha 😂 yes I know what you are talking about 👍 I probably will ride the stock tires for a while before replacing them, it’s a hard balance for a dual sport bike, there’s always a trade off for long lasting on the pavement and good traction on the trails. If you come up with a tire combo you like let me know.

I got one of these bikes like a year ago got 968 miles on it and honestly I hate it, it may just be me but I've had nothing but issue with it but I'm not giving up hope gonna try this. I just changed the timing on the intake and now it sounds and responds a hell of a lot better.

I had a 2006 Roketa. Had horrible rear suspension. Found that a DR125 rear shock fit pretty well. Did a lot to make it a better ride.

Haven't watched whole vid yet, I'm curious about the fork suspension travel. Did you ever put a zip tie on the stanchion and see how much travel it has? They rarely list that important spec with these bikes I have noticed. Also wondering about rear suspension travel but that's harder to measure I guess.

Templar X has rimlocks installed in both wheels out of the box. Run low pressure on the dirt.

Yes mine also has rim locks, you still won’t get down to 6or 5 PSI without a pinched tube. Tubeless is the way to go, but because I’m still using it on the street I probably won’t go all out on that and gummy tires.

the expro rxe 250 is 85 mph stock im more than likely going faster than the 85 it feels like its still climbing in top speed test and the rxe250 addresses all the problems from the hawk and templar models and made the rxe250 so far no complaints its a very good dual sport you should possibly check the xpro rxe250.. i know im really enjoying mine lol.. enjoy your day.

Those Icon tools seem to work really well 👍 all my Hercules 20 volt cordless tools have been holding up great as well. I Definitely have been enjoying this bike so far, time will tell how it holds up but so far it’s far better then I would have expected it to be.

Check out the Trailmaster 38, 36 or 35. Seat height is 37 inches. I’m 6’2” and I fit very comfortably. The Trailmaster series seem to be of better build quality too from what I’ve noticed in multiple videos.

I think the X model Templar with adjustable suspension is overall a bigger bike, the frame and suspension and Engine is different, I hear the X model is overall larger? But I haven’t seen many videos of people mentioning there height when sitting on them. Something worth looking into.

In our riding group we have both the X and the base model. They are completely different bikes with the X being significantly larger, it is the same size as a KTM or Husky whereas the base model several inches smaller in every dimension and honestly fills a void in the current dirtbike market where shorter riders are left tiptoeing especially in off camber singletrack.

I put a Fisch Moto spark arrestor in my bike - and now I can't get the thing back out. I used the loctite, and the screws are so cheap, they stripped out inside. Kind of defeats the purpose of it being removable for cleaning.

Do you make concern I have had a Templar 250 for 2 years now have 500 miles on it with zero problems 95% trail ridden I am 5'11 2:20 lb 55 year old used to run 250 2 strokes was looking for something little calmer this has been perfect. Have done zero upgrades.

I would recommend checking out my first video I made on the bike, I explain why I decided to get it. I would suggest calling Powersportsmax ( the place I ordered mine from) or any other place that sells them and asking when they maybe back it stock, I don’t work with the company so I would not know when they come back in stock again.

Watch the shipping from xpro as they don't use freight insurance and ship signature not required if your purchase arrives damaged they will give you the runaround... I am still fighting with it a month+ later still unresolved...

That’s a bummer, I ordered my bikes from Power sports max and luckily they shipped fine. The company was good about the headlight cage that needed to be replaced for my Storm 150 and the tail lights that went out. They shipped them out pretty quickly. What got damaged in shipping on your bike?

Just shows you how a "simple" thing like that idle screw can screw you... -The bike sounds impressive. I am not big into off-roads, (used to be when I was much younger), but I also do learn quite a bit from watching you fiddling with it. (Any further camper builds?)

If you think removing and reinstalling the carb bank for an inline 4 is miserable you should try an old V4. The first time I had to clean and rebuild the carbs on my old V65 Magna, I seriously considered just selling the bike about halfway through. 🤣

Your DRZ will also last forever and never (or rarely) have any issues at all. I had one for ten years and never had a problem with it. Who knows with these chinese bikes though. I do like the Xpro but after watching a lot of videos I think I'll pass, and try to find an old XR250 or something for the trails.

As long as you don’t add any preload to the rear shock and maybe slide the front forks up in the triple clamps about a 1/2” I think it will work for you. I also had a subscriber mentioned he was too short for the bike and bought a little shorter rear shock and it now fits him great. I think the fella made a video about it. Look up Storm 150 rear shock upgrade and maybe you will find the video.

@@rennierrodil6119 Yes this kit fits right into the side case oil screen filter cap, it should be plug and play, I’m just not sure if I’m going to run it due to extra lines to possibly get ripped off when riding on the trails. I may fit it up and see how clean I can install the kit to keep it low profile this summer.

I think you may have missed the actual point of that, It’s not about putting mesh in the exhaust, it’s about avoiding a much larger ticket when out on any state trail or forest service road. Good luck talking yourself out of a ticket with some JB weld and mesh.
It’s a $1800 bike, there isn’t really much you need do to it. Step 3 isn’t really necessary 🤣 but I know lots of people that spend loads of money on new KTM bikes after they buy them.

@@Mikefestiva and since you like experimenting, it would be interesting to test the back pressure on the epa test port on the header to see if there is a much of a difference when adding the spark arrestor. Possibly use that as a segway to further muffler testing and design. Like different through baffles styles, their effect on pitch and decibels, and their effect on back pressure
