The application of Occam's Razor in this situation is entirely appropriate. A perfect example are the San Francisco 49ers (which I hate) however respect because of how they run their organization. They don't just talk but show everyone, especially their fans that they are willing to do whatever it takes to be the best and strive for a Super Bowl Championship. Every team has the same Salary Cap. It is the SMART teams that know how to maneuver the Salary Cap. Then there are some teams that just want to stay relevant by making the playoffs and winning a division title but DON'T want to win a Championship because then in the long run it costs them more money. The Cowboys use to be ALL IN in winning championships. Now they are the latter and just want to stay relevant. EVERYONE knows this and can SEE their lack of efforts! Hence, figuring this out IS NOT brain surgery! Occam's Razor explains that the simplest answer is usually the correct one!

Stephen is not entirely telling the truth. They will have money to spend, but they won't spend any of it because if they get a mid to top tier free agent, they have to pay them a signing bonus. With their nepo babies handling the cap and player contracts, they pay their signing bonuses in full first year, whereas every other team prorates it over the span of the contract. That's why the cowboys don't sign players, thinking that they have to pay the signing bonus in full first year. Such idiots.....

If you are the rep for a free agent and you know the Cowboys have $100m in cap space and are going to spend big, the salary demands go up. This happens here in football(soccer). If club A sells a player for £100m with the idea they are going to buy 2/3 players to improve the team overall, the selling clubs up the price on the players you want. I know you don’t have transfer fees in the same sense in the NFL it’s the same principal. I wouldn’t ever big up free agency ambitions.. I would downplay the ability to pay and get a better deal on the players you sign. That’s the only reason I can think of for lying and it’s what I’d do anyway.

The Cowboys have been possibly the cheapest organization in football for at least a decade now. They signed Dak and CD this year, and they are still 22nd in the league in spending. Jerry was just slicker at hiding it and it took the media until he did absolutely nothing this offseason to catch on. Its gotten bad enough where I'm about ready to just stop watching them, going to games and buying their crap, after 45yrs. I live in Colorado and I have been watching all the Broncos games this year. I love Payton as a coach, and with the Walton ownership it looks like the Broncos are going to be doing alot of winning over the next decade. I am about to just switch teams, to what looks like an organization that cares about winning. Let other people invest their time and money into Jerry Jones's cheap ass team. Those trips to Cowboys games are far more expensive than driving 45min to Denver, ill tell you that. THere is no chance in hell that Jerry is spending the 15-20m a year its going to take to hire Ben Johnson. Look for another Mcarthy type coach at 6 to 7 million a year. I have known for years how cheap the Jones's are it just really took tearing down a 12 win team for it to set in how much they dont care about winning. Nobody does that.

Capboy is singularly focused on dead money and his pie. He can't see the forest for the trees. However, for all of you who don't understand cap: the league makes you spend at least 86% of the cap. The rest would roll over into the next season. The cap is an accounting tool, using real money but isn't real money itself. So you will spend real money which counts against the cap but any left over is, on paper, attached to the next year's draft. Re the cap, the owner doesn't pocket anything. FFS.
