I look at it like this….. There is no grooming to a HC. It’s either in you to lead men or not. What smart coaches you put around you is what’s gonna matter. It’s the in game decisions that you got to get experience with. Only way that happens is to be the HC. So if Witten is confident that he can be a HC, you do it now & he aligns himself with ppl that are on his outlook to have a direction & identity. Deion has not proven anything but making a team relevant. Has yet to show he can put a team over the top. That’s what we need to be lookin for is someone to put us over the top. Not glitzy glamour ticket seller. Just food for thought

I say we hang on to dak for a couple more years. Have a couple 6 and 11 seasons and go ahead and grab that manning when he comes due. And it's off to the races. We all know that we need a tight end definitely need at least two running backs and at least one more receiver if not two of those. If we have three terrible seasons in a row we can get all of those from the draft and then pick up Manning from Texas and it's on play the long game we know Jerry will be gone soon and then we can finally start winning championships again

Lookit yall, coach Prime in Dallas would be a reckoning. I'll say it again, "It's a reckoning". We all remember how tough Jimmy Johnson was and the bravado he displayed at the position. I remember wincing when he said "we're gonna kick their ass" about the 49ers heading into the NFC championship game in January of 1994. I thought that was a bad move waking up a sleeping giant, and then they went out a kicked their ass. They believed it because Jimmy said it. Jimmy's greatest asset was his understanding of psychology and his ability to motivate and lead men. Leave the X's and O's to the assistants and be the leader that they need. In this day and age who better to duplicate that style of coaching than an all world athlete that will forever be remembered as the absolute best to ever play one of the premiere positions on the feild and ever to play the game period. The credibility with the players, and the ability to manage every single one of them as an individual is exactly what Coach Prime brings to the table. He is beloved in Dallas, and loves Dallas back. He is trusted and respected by the owner and will never let outside noise penetrate and effect his psyche. I grew up so die hard that a loss on Sunday ruined my whole week, and an early playoff exit ruined my whole spring and summer, and after the way Romo was swept aside in 2016, I lost my love for my team. I still love the memories, but watching them under McCarthy has been uninspiring and basically emotionless. I still pay attention, but invest nothing emotionally. Deion Sanders would change that for me. I'll say it again, "It's a reckoning".

I agree. Not because Dak isn't a good QB capable of winning a SB if he was in the right situation (ie a very good roster around him). Unfortunately just through the natural progression of a good NFL QB's market value and Jerry's ineptitude oi handling Daks contracts and operating the team in general the Cowboys have wasted their window with Dak and no offense to Dak but no way in hell the Cowboys can roster enough talent around him to compete when they are paying him 60mil, CeeDee 35mil and whatever they end up paying Parsons which I'm sure will be 35+mil. At some point it will sink in to NFL owners that you CANNOT pay a good QB elite QB $ and expect to be competitive for any length of time until the cap hit depletes your roster.

Cutting the fourth best quarterback in all of cowboy's history to make the team better is very ignorant. And that is a statistical fact that you can find at the Landry hat where you can read about the Top 10 quarterbacks in all of Cowboy's history. quarterbacks do not play Defense, they are not running backs. They are not coaches. There are 53 other players on this team, and it is very possible that default doesn't all fall on just one guy.

@@alexf8309 No one said cut Dak. Cutting or trading Dak this year means from what I understand a $105mil dead cap hit so not gonna happen. The point is Dak's contract makes it impossible to retain enough talent to give Dak a chance to win. Reality is there are only a few QB's good enough to elevate the talent around them enough to warrant taking up as much cap as Dak does and Dak ain't one of them. My take of what @christopherjohnson2375 is saying is that we are tied to Dak due to his contract so don't expect the roster to be much better than it is now until his contract is over so don't expect to be competitive until then either.

I was never on board with Dallas signing Dion in 1995. For one, the 49ers was our rival back in those days. I didn’t care for Dion’s antics either.
