My mother loved these. She had one or two growing at all times. My 8x12 cottage could use these. Yup. My goodness. You are awesome young man!

My very first plant I bought on my gardening journey was a pothos. I found a passion for plants late in life, and so have so much to learn. My pothos has given me so much joy and confidence, and it just grows, and grows, and grows. When a strand reaches the floor, I loop it back up and over the hanging pot, and on it goes. It’s still also in the same pot I bought it in, I’ve never repotted or potted it up into a bigger pot. Now, after watching this video, I’m gonna makes some cuttings and grow more of this fabulous plant 🪴💚🌱

Pothos are a lot of fun. They root so easily and turn into beautiful tropical plants. I love that they need very little light and thrive in just about any space as long as they're warm enough.

My son has been doing the hard to propagate items in his fish tank filter. Hands down the craziest thing I have ever seen. I have been propagating plants for 30 years. I'm considering getting a tank just for cuttings.

Helpful video! That looks like a great plant for someone who does not have a green thumb. That could be a beautiful plant for every room of your house. It also is known for being the best household plant for removing toxins from the air. Be careful though, the plant can be toxic to cats, dogs and people. 🐸. Thank you Mike!

Thanks Mike! You are funny! We are not even half way done with the kitchen...maybe a quarter. Very slow process. Chris(my husband just came home from being gone all week and I have 2 old kids that one knows how to drive me nuts ...lol she has almost 83 years of experience😱 I hope that will be done by Thanksgiving or Christmas. Wishful thinking! Will see. Hugs🤗

I have a pothos in my North facing kitchen window. (I can't see out my kitchen window) I also have a corn plant and learned that it's sensitive to the chlorine in tap water, it turns the leaves brown. If you buy "start right" for fish tanks it either removes or neutralizes chlorine and is then safe for plants.👍

Good to know, thanks. The pathos look great in kitchens. I love how ours winds around cupboards and everywhere else it can get.

The Mighty Pothos! The down and not-so-dirty method of rooting these wonders. After your original series on this plant, I replaced the species with Hoyas, and had the same success! Thank you for the education (now I’m trying to figure out how to get them to bloom)

Truthfully, you don't even have to root them. When I prune mine back, I use an old screwdriver to punch a hole in the potting mix and then shove the cutting into that spot to give my main pothos plant an even fuller and bushier appearance. 🌿

Mike I am a propagator. I try a new method all the time. I Love the clear cup. My latest method for this HOT Florida weather is perlite. I take these long strands and put them in a cup full of perlite. Water once a day (or every other day) with the shower nozzle and mist them for the heat. I have had some real success with this. On the other hand I've had limited success with going from water to dirt. Maybe you could do a video on going from water to dirt. Thanks for another propagation video ♥️🪴♥️🪴♥️🪴
@msbuglinbowlin90862 жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken, he addressed that in one of his propagation videos. He slowly added dirt or sand to the water, not all at once, but a period of time. Wish I knew which video it was, I'd link it for you.

Ok, so propitiation is a no brainer for me. It’s what becomes of them when I plant them in soil. Most of my propagations have been in water all their lives. Is there a special blend or specific soil/brand I should be using or recommend? I have one I planted into soil and so far it’s doing ok…for now.
@MikeKincaid792 жыл бұрын
These plants grow very well in soil. Are you over-fertilizing? I use hardly any fertilizer at all and they grow fantastic.
@Michael1M62 жыл бұрын
@@MikeKincaid79 I use little to no fertilizer. I don’t even overwater them. When I water them, I let the soil dry completely before re-watering so it’s not root rot that’s causing them to wilt or die. I recently started using a pot mix “Miracle Gro Indoor Potting Mix” and so far they’re doing ok.

I absolutely love all of mine, and they are so easy, but I do know someone that has killed the poor pothos and the mighty mint plant, if they touch it it dies. LOL He got his sister to come here from New York to plant a garden and he had the people that work for him to go get the stuff out of the garden. When he touches a plant even to get the fruit or vegetable, it dies. I have seen this happen.He is a good guy ,but no luck with plants. I love your videos, keep em coming.
@MikeKincaid792 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, "he's a good guy, but no luck with plants", lol. I love the qualifier. Well, I guess he can visit your garden whenever he needs a plant fix. Hope all is well with you Glenda. Your plants are all looking great out in the hoop house.

How often do you change the water out?
@MikeKincaid792 жыл бұрын
I didn't change the water while it was rooting. On the pothos that sat in there a couple years, I think I changed the water out once or twice over the few years it grew in there.

pothos; oh, no! i'v got rid of most of mine, and the pieces I saved I threw in my aquarium tank and they are still going. you might want to try a - scindapsus - plant which is a close relative of the pothos. they get jumbo leaves on them mike and are just as easy. it is probably a little more expensive but the varieties are kool.
@MikeKincaid792 жыл бұрын
I love huge leaved plants. Need more indoor lighting for some of the varieties but I'd love to grow a jungle in my living room.

Is a pothos just a leafy plant?
@MikeKincaid792 жыл бұрын
Yes. It grows in tropical regions as a form of ivy. In fact, another name for it is the devil's ivy.
@Dreamzz1012 жыл бұрын
a lot of people put them in their fish tanks.. the roots go nuts and help the cycle of the water.. of course you cant put the leaves in the tank just the stems but leaves have been known to grow under water if the plant is thriving.. funny little world ..
@MikeKincaid792 жыл бұрын
Sure is. I put one of them in my fish tank in the first video a couple years ago. It loved the water and grew really healthy roots.
@JacobSimpson2 жыл бұрын
Just throw em at something. A wall, some rocks, maybe some dirt or water, they’ll grow.
