These are Arsenal's midfield options. Arsenal play DLP = Jorgihno/Partey/Rice and 2 8's = Merino, Odegaard, Nwaneri, Rice, Havertz. Merino replaces Xhaka and Nwaneri replaces ESR and Vieira as options there. Very simple.

I think many people do not understand the Merino- Arsenal - Spain player. Spain plays 4231, Arsenal plays 433. Fabian and Merino are same kind of players with a little difference between them. If you play a 4231 you need a Fabian if you play a 433 you need a Merino. That was why Xhaka didnt thrive in a 4231 in Wenger but a 433 in Arteta. Secondly, Fabian was ahead because he is an 8 playing 10 player while Merino is an 8 playing 6 player. Thirdly, The Spain tactics of play recommended by the FA is an Ultra Attacking football (committing too many players forward). Arsenal plays just Attacking football. Fourthly, for Spain they do not mind playing 5-4, 5-3, 4-3 score lines, so long as they win whereas, Arsenal does not need conceding many goals as it has been proven that goal differences can win you the league in England. So the most Arsenal should concede in a game is 1 goal if they want to win the league. THIS IS WHY ARTETA HAS GONE WITH MERINO WITH MORE DEFENDING INSIGHT INSTEAD OF A PLAYER LIKE FABIAN WITH MORE FLAIR. The Man United fan in black simply no understand ball and why coaches buy players. He gets too sentimental and forgets why he's there.
