What a good team needs is a player that can win possession and hold ball. Go and check rodri comp and see if you will see anything special other than the goals he manages to score in crucial times. This merino has that quality.

@@TzarErnsteinfans choose to remember what they want! this what his biggest problems in his early doors or games we were opened up. No fan seems to realise Xhaka was replaced by Rice both positionally on the pitch and off it leadership wise. I see this signing as a back up to him being left footed with Partey and Jorginho on the right side of midfield.

Arsenal fans - Rice replaced Xhaka both on the pitch and off it. This signing will likely play back up to Rice with Sambi leaving and occupying that area of mid. Right sided midfielders will be Jorginho/Partey unless the latter leaves and frees up space and wages.

If Arteta thinks he can do some exceptional work on this guy like he did with xhaka; then I trust him. But order than just wanting to trust this guy own ability to come and do a better job in that midfield, I don't see it. He looks too slow and I think that's the reason he failed at Newcastle. The PL is totally different from other leagues and we all know it; this dude seem not to fit in. Hope Areta can prove some of us wrong again like he has done with few players.
