My ideas for some Zelda Maker / Zelda Randomizer items: Prospectors Pick and Pruning Shears. You use the pick on walls, and if a wall is bombable, it makes a sound, you still use bombs to open the wall, the pick is not a consumable. You use the pruning shears on trees and bushes, and if it is burnable, it makes a sound, you still use a candle to burn the tree, the pruning shears are not a consumable. Basically it would keep the mechanics of Zelda 1, but provide a less tedious way to test every single wall and bush. I agree with Mike that cracks in the walls or off-colored bushes take away from the adventure and the thrill of discovery. But as it is currently in the randomizer, I think it's too tedious. I think the Prospectors Pick and Pruning Shears might be a good middle ground that keeps the thrill of discovery of the original but just makes it less time consuming. And of course you'd still have to find the Prospectors Pick and Pruning Shears.

Someone should make a Castlevania-themed Zelda 1 hack. Simon Belmont with a whip, Castlevania enemies, music, subweapons. Arrows can be the daggers. There’s the stop watch. Boomerang can be the cross boomerang. The raft can be the ferryman’s boat from Simon’s Quest.

It was my favorite game as a kid and then when I first got my hands on the randomizer I think I played it 50 times until I couldnt see it anymore. Then I had enough although I could still see myself playing it again. P.S. holy moly, now this is way more randomized than I had expected.

Mike. You ought to try The Shuffler. Where you can play 5 or so mario games or mega man or castlevania games at one time. Shuffling in and out every 30 seconds or more. It's pretty cool, and gives a new spin on challenge.

@mikematei From my gathering. It's called Bizhawk Shuffler for Bizhawk emulator. I've seen videos of a speed runner named Skybilz run castlevania 1,3,4 at the same time on her channel, and seen her speedrun mario games a couple times at gdq events. I figured you might would be interested in it. You can basically put any game you want.

@@mikematei It's a shuffler for a emulator that allows multiple games to be played at one time, and switches back and forth between each game from random times. From 30 seconds to maybe 45 seconds and so on. From what I know and have found, it is called the Bizhawk Shuffler, that is used for Bizhawk emulator. I've seen examples of it used by speedrunner Skybilz on youtube, playing castlevania 1,3,4 and speedrunning mario allstars on GDQ events. I was wanting to try it to run all 6 mega man nes games, but haven't gotten that far yet. Haha

Hey Mike, did you ever play Super Mario and the Rainbow Stars? It's a pc fan game but it's really fun and well made. There's a tutorial stage with some wall jumping that is a little tedious and a boss fight. After that the game gets really good!

it's downright sad the only games that have zelda as a playable character that are actually fun to play are spinoffs like hyrule warriors or smash. you would think by this point they would have a full on main game dedicated to playing as zelda that was actually good but they just don't care.

After watching a very old stream of you playing Adventures Of Lolo with three other guys, it came to me that Adventures Of Lolo would also be a good template for a randomizer since it has some similarities to the original Legend Of Zelda. Heck, Lolo would be a great game to have lots of hacks but sadly it only has a few. Such a shame. The whole thing with the ladder makes me think that I would have generally no problem with a hacker changing some of the expected game mechanics up a bit to make it interesting. On the other hand, I would think that a hacker should include such information in his hack description because in the case of this seed, how are you ever supposed to figure this out? I just started playing it and not only is it Ghosts and Ghouls hard but there are a shit ton of mods for it, Randomizer, one that changes the map and adds new enemies and shit. There's another PC mod you should try, Mike. It's called "Zelda Classic". It's basically "Super Mario Maker" for Zelda and you can even play quests that were created by other users. It even has custom items that are not in a Zelda 1 hack or randomizer, such as the hookshot.
