Alrighty, so let's see what this mower can actually do and test those limits alittle bit shall we?!... 😆🤔
Keep in mind that I am NOT damaging the mower or the blades as the steel is much harder than soft trees. Rocks tho damage a mower..

It will be interesting to see how many of the sloughs will be full in the spring since the current & forecasted amounts of snow in central Saskatchewan looks like a good winter to have a snowmobile. Should be good moisture in the spring for crops.

Is it mainly blade style mowers used in North America for scrub land like this? As over here in the UK and Ireland not so sure about the rest of Europe that flail style mowers are usually the most popular for this type of cutting or heavy brush and ground that hasn't been maintained in many years
@jeffwilliams3642
@jeffwilliams3642 Жыл бұрын
The farmers in the U S use them alot to do what Mike is doing. I dont know if they are popular in Canada but i would think so. The Flail mowers over here are not built to cut what he is cutting. The highway dept. use the Flail mowers to cut the grass on the side of the roads.

Mike, instead of backing up to cut brush, like they do in India and Nigeria, just drop your full-width bucket to the ground with a slight upwards tilt of the loader, put loader arms on "float" setting, then you can go forward and cut the bush going round and round. (these two videos have been painful to watch).

Hey Mike,Being naturally curious I looked up the Seppi equipment,incredible,nothing that they can't process,pricey yes but the end result is superb.Almost made it to your nieghborhood "Shaunavon" this summer,maybe next year. That’s a sweet unit mike! I recently just picked up a similar mower and was told to never have a razor sharp edge as it will constantly get beat up from mowing brush or hitting the odd rock. The mower relies on the speed and weight of the blades to cut so having an 1/8th “ to 1/4” bevel on the blade edge will make it take a beating much better and hold its form compared to a razor sharp edge which is more desired on a finishing mower. Keep up the great videos!

that schulte mower cuts good, and i understand why ya got it Mikey, but imagine the dream of mowing it with a degelmower and a side arm! swinging out to the side and not having to back up into it all, no worries of rocks lauching at your rear window (not a fun time when they go out) and no bent blades unless you try to mow a literal boulder lol but i get it. also, it's coming back to farmland nice my dude!

Be careful about letting the grass build up on your deck under the wing drive shafts. When you left the wings up the grass will fall under the shafts then when you left the wings back down the grass will be too high up under them and will actually bend you drive shifts. Ask me how I know lol

From Soth. Aust. The mower is obviously doing a good job, otherwise you'd be staking a few tyres. I'm interested in finding out what problems you could have when the country is first cultivated and how you'll handle the stumps/roots. Or will they be pulverised too.

11:09 - you should be very careful about changing directions like this! I work with forest machinery, and it is while changing directions that a lot of branches find an opportunity to search out your delicate electronics or hydraulics. Those branches you just laid down, will now act as attacking grounded spears, that will search out every vulnerable crevace of your tractor. I might want to continue backing out, turn around and back right in again the other way. This way, the blades do their work before your expensive tractor gets there.

Hey Mike those cuttings are packed with dormant buds. Willow can be grown by just shoving a twig of it into soil and those dormant buds take over. Just a heads-up for when the cuttings are mixed into the dirt at the end - weedkiller of sorts should save the day if they grow again.
