Thank you for this review! Honestly, this looks better than i was expecting. I have a brompton electric and though I don't love the idea of getting a clone, this does look better than some others like the Dahon Curl ei4. On your search for a folding bike that's better on gravel... I've seen two people on reddit claim that a 20-inch Brompton is on the way, perhaps coming in early 2024. Maybe that'll suit your needs.

Its surprisingly nice for the money. Definitely big value here, especially since the weight difference between mine (C-Line electrified) and the Alps is very noticeable. Thank you for the heads up on a 20 inch Brompton - I'll definitely be looking out for that.

Great review! Is it worth getting this and not using the electric function (just pedaling manually? Or are the tires too beefy?

If you are used to road bikes, this is going to feel noticeably slower without electric. If you don't mind that, it's not a bad way to get a bit more exercise and go at a slower pace. My converted Brompton is one that I ride without electric, and its a much more enjoyable experience on smooth roads than this. On rougher roads, this definitely is more comfortable but slower (without electric assistance). So I would personally skip this if primarily pedaling manually.

I just purchased this bike. I wanted a lightweight ebike to fit in my semi truck. I have a fiido L3 but its heavy. Like 60+lbs with the 23ah battery 😮. I needed something to get exercise with and gears helps. Lifting the fiidi i hurt myself so i hope this bike is better in the long run. Im used to foing about 50 miles a week on a road bike, no electric, but haven't done so since ive been on the road trucking.

No. Sounds like something is out of alignment. Brakes and wheel may need some adjustment.

Is it easy to remove the wheels to replace and/or repair flat tires?

About the same as most bikes. 30 minutes first time if you are really green at it. 10 after you know what you're doing with the right tools. Have a good set of tire levers is key ( go.mikemu.com/tirelevers ). If you wear gloves when changing, the park tools is fine. But I've busted a few knuckles on tougher to replace fat ebike wheels, and Pedro's speedier is what I use now in addition to disposable gloves on the road. Steel core ones I keep at home - just a weight savings thing.

Thank you for the great review. I just have one question though. Can you go up a steep hill with iGogomi? I live up in pretty steep hill (I honestly don't know the angle of the steepness but I do get pretty exhausted when walking up for about 5 minutes). I had another ebike: Lectric Xp Lite, and was able to go up pretty well. But sadly it got stolen when I parked it outside of a store recently, so I'm planning to get another one. I commute to school and I was looking for a compact ebike that I could actually carry it in the classrooms and also any kinds of stores as well since I have learned lesson from the loss. However, I was just warried that by just first impression, this bike doesn't have much power to go up the steep hills. Maybe it's just my stereotype but I just wanted to be sure before purchasing. Thank you.

Not for steep hills. Expect about half as much assistance up the hill as the XP you had stolen. But I haven’t test the lite version yet. It is also awkward to carry into a classroom. Great for transporting in the back of a car though.

@@MikeMu Thank you very much for your reply. Even though you told me that it's not for steep hills, I went for it anyways because of such the compactness that it could get. I had it for 2 days now. Since this bike is the replica of Brompton, I was kind of worried that I might encounter some unexpected problems that a lot of replica products have. But so far, I am very satisfied with it. It takes a bit of my own energy to go up the hills to my house but it works. Not like exhausting, I could think of it as a little exercise on my legs. Your review helped me a lot 👍

What went wrong?

@@MikeMu combination of the rear hub being so tight the wheel wouldn't spin and the charger making a loud buzzing noise while plugged in. Plus the latch for the bike to fold would never catch, and the rear reflector had shattered in shipping.

Yes. Possible. Not pleasurable experience for long distances. If you use throttle mostly without relying on pedaling you'd have some fun.

This is a good beginning for IGogomi. It address the flaws in the electric Brompton. Still, the iGogomi uses too many low quality parts. The 7 speed weighs 35 pounds, light for an electric bike but still too heavy for 16 inch wheel folding bike. iGogomi must use higher quality components. Better yet, make a high-end titanium iGogomi with H&H carbon parts. Don't compromise. Make a 500 watt, all-titanium and carbon, 30 mph folding bike, 25 pound, long range Brompton clone. Where every clone goes wrong is none of them compare to Brompton quality. Don't cheapen out! People will pay if the quality is there. The internet is vicious. Reviews about poor quality will spread like wildfire.

For people with the money, there is already Brompton, obviously. The ALPS is for a price. And 30 mph is too fast for most bike lanes anspd safe riding, It’s supposed to be a bike, not a moped.

I believe that is the case. It feels more powerful than other 250W models I have tried. But these stats are from the manufacturer, and I do not have scientific testing as to how it compares side by side with a 250 W under same conditions.

Please explain what you mean by "squirrely" handlebars? Do they feel wobbly and unsafe? Also, what about this bike is intolerable? I was interested in it because of it's light weight, a Samsung battery, it's ability to be rolled along vs always needing to be picked up and carried, it's affordability vs other e-bikes with a fraction of it's features. But before I buy it I would like to know if you would have kept it if you never had heard of a Brompton? Thank you vm. 🫠

Almost all folding bikes with small tires feel squirel-ly. For its design and intended speeds, no - it is perfectly acceptable. Trying to modify it to go 50 mph... or go down a really steep mountain pass at high speeds is a bad idea on this. I might have kept it if I didn't already have a small bike I keep in the car. My wife loves the throttle, which is uncommon for a name brand to have a throttle and not need to pedal. Ultimately its just the difference in ride between a full size bike and a folding bike - wife prefers a full size bike.
