Loved the video. My family farms up in Cincinnatus. I farm in NC now. Loved to drive past your farm my whole life and watching the changes over the years. We were very good friends with your neighbors the Wilcoxs. Keep the videos coming! You are doing a great job!

I liked this video so much, Mike, I farmed at the same time as your dad, in the same area, did business with the same dealers by the look. Peningroth IH and New Holland, and their ace salesman, Al Chasse. I know you new Al because of the Sealstore silo! Manwarring JD also. I wish we had pictures from those years, but I loved seeing yours. Thanks for sharing.
@mikep78104 күн бұрын
That name sounds familiar. I've heard my dad mention Peningroth but that was before my time. I do remember Manwarrings equipment. That is were the 2940 came from and the 4040 my dad tested. I actually found a John Deere belt in our shop last year that had a Manwarrings tag on it

I enjoyed the video. So cool to see a New York built LAMCO forage wagon. Also interesting to see the tractor progression and the demo models. When do you next plan to add or upgrade a tractor? The first farm machine I ever got to ride in was a CASE 1060 combine. It inspired my interest in farm equipment. Did your CASE combine get traded in for the 4420?
@mikep78104 күн бұрын
I'm not sure when the next tractor upgrade will be. You can never have too many. The Case combine was pretty whooped so it went back to the yearly auction that he got it from and he had it custom done for a few years until he got the 4420

I'm sure the 3 row head made the 4055 howl! I always thought that the JD silage boxes were designed to choke the blowers, they seemed to slug feed a LOT. NH choppers are hard to beat, the FP 240 looks sweet. I liked the Ford TW's, ran a TW20 with a NH890/892 3rn corn head, and it would walk away with it. Great video, Mike! And my Dad had a heart attack in '96, but I was 27 and managed to hang on for another 10 years. Still have the land, but I found out that I am better off working for someone else and keeping all my paychecks is easier... God Bless You, my friend, and keep doing what you are doing! I will keep watching!👍👍

Thank you Morgan. I appreciate it. We bumped up the HP a little on the 4055 so it ran the chopper a little better. Even though I'm a deere guy I have a soft spot for those old fords

Howdy Mike, I hope ya'll are doing well, Ya, that was a Cool video, I already knew the history of your current farm, however I didn't know that you went from a 4420 JD combine, to a 9500 JD, thats quite the jump in size and capability, I was expecting to see ya'll go to a 8820 JD next, was that a consideration ya'll even thought about, before going with the 9500 ?? Stay safe, God Bless and Farm on my Friends
@mikep78106 күн бұрын
We ran the 4420 longer then we should of. It really started giving us problem toward the end. Parts for the 20 series were getting harder to find so we didn't give another bigger 20 series combine much thought.

Thanks Adam. The Fords came from Cortland Ford New Holland which was right by Cazenovia Equipment Cortland store. Cortland Ford New Holland turned into Empire Tractor and now that location is CNY Farm supply. The 2 brothers that own CNY, their dad use to run the Ford New Holland dealership. I was talking to him at the CNY booth at the farm show last year and showing him some of these old pictures

Never when we combine. My dad has kicked out a big deer when he was combine, I've never kicked one out. Baby deer around here usually get discovered when guys are mowing 1st cutting hay. One time when I was mowing with the self propelled mower I had a mama deer and baby jump up as I was coming. Luckily I was able to stop
