Thanks a lot for the review. I came across this jig recently and was debating whether to go ahead and get it. You helped me to decide in favour. Good tip about checking the screw tension. Cheers!

We all make those engineering adjustments during projects. I think how one responds to those engineering adjustments is what set apart good woodworkers from great ones.

I am surprised at how much I learn on your videos. Hope to see more. Love the speed up action. Because you get the process without having to sit through the time you put in. I also like how you talk about problems you run into etc.. great vid

I've used the vise type of these for years, but they take a bit of time to align each hole, so bought one of these and hope it will be faster. Thanks for the tip on the screws. Working on a nine foot bar top assembled in five pieces, would have been a mess if I ran into the same problem.

Thanks for the review. I was given one recently and I look forward to using it. I'll keep an eye on those screws. They need the springs because those joints need to rotate as the tool is used.
@donmcleod83073 жыл бұрын
I crimped mine up fairly tightly today, and it still rotates well
@minermarcus3 жыл бұрын
Did you take the end stop off after the first hole drilled in each board? When you measure from hole to hole with this on the tool will rock on this as a pivot thereby screwing up every hole but 5he first one.
@onestepunlock44753 жыл бұрын
Just fyi - thickness planer does not make a board flat. It simply shaves the thickness off. The knifes follow the shape of the board. You will get exactly the same defect, just the thinner board

@3.58 were you drilling one of the 'hardened' bushings? Surely the point is they should be harder than the drill so they don't wear?
@BubbasWorkbench3 жыл бұрын
Yes. unfortunately they arent hardened.

Same here. Actually mine started off perfect and slowly one by one they went off. Of course murphys law takes over and until we are done is it realized.

+1 for metric ;) I'm sure i've seen one of those from an US company with imperial meassurements. Think its called woodpecker or something like this.
@LQ-gaming2 жыл бұрын
can you do 90 degrees furniture pieces or just straight line ones?
@BubbasWorkbench2 жыл бұрын
As long as your putting the dowels into the middle of each piece being connected.
@tjerkheringa93710 ай бұрын
I am sure that you will be able to find a tool in imperial from an American company. But not for the same price. If you order internationally, be prepared to get the normal standard international measuring.

I noticed the concave shape. note to self: save up and buy dowelmax

I switched from a dowelmax knockoff to a carangles clone of this product. Don't want to mess with anything other than self centering.

I just through one of those downing jigs like that in the trash. It’s a piece of junk !

Absolute waste of time using it to glue up boards. Never ever seen anyone do that
@BGP369Ай бұрын
It's helpful for keeping the glueup aligned, and not needing to rush to clamp right away as the dowels keep everything nice and aligned ftmp. Definitely not a waste of time. Keep in mind there are many ways to do the same thing. Everyone has their own preferences.

Drone I bought came in and was defective out of the box. Customer service is a joke at best if they do reply to you. Buyer beware of this company they don't seem to stand behind the products they sell and you will never get the money you spent back. Very disappointed in this company
@BubbasWorkbench4 жыл бұрын
Sorry you had an issue, they havent been a problem for me as far as customer service is concerned. I have had issues with damaged items in the past and all i did was take pictures of the damaged items and either they sent a new one or refunded money. I will admit there is a huge language barrier; in one instance i made a video showing the issue and all was good. I have found using the chat feature works best to get faster response. Did you get your drone issue resolved?
@1492junus4 жыл бұрын
@@BubbasWorkbench no still dealing with it. From what I read I'll have to ship it to China which will cost almost half of what I bought it for. It was shipped to me from the stock in there New Jersey warehouse so unsure why I would have to ship it to China. Would have no problem shipping back to NJ for a replacement but haven't had luck talking to them about it (email, phone and live chat) had to get PayPal involved which I didn't want to do.
@BubbasWorkbench4 жыл бұрын
@@1492junus ya, thats absurd to have to ship it back. Glad you used paypal which is why i use it as well. Its the best option with bad service.
@1492junus4 жыл бұрын
@@BubbasWorkbench yup but the only problem after talking with PayPal is that I would still have to ship it back to China if they say so to get my refund at my cost. If that is the case I would end up spending almost half of what I spent on the drone just in shipping back to them. Will never buy from them again such a scam company.

Woodpeckers knockoff. Buy a woodpeckers
@BubbasWorkbench4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately woodpeckers no longer makes a self centering dowel jig. The one they made retired in 2014. This one is more robust than theirs.
