Having said that, I understand your point. 100% of the bad ones ask for money so it is a red flag. But just because 100% of the bad ones ask for money that doesn’t logically mean 100% of those who ask for money are bad. That is the same logical error as the following ::: 100% of the time it rains there are some clouds in the sky, thus 100% of the time there are some clouds in the sky it rains. Nope. One thing important that Mike always share (and he is pretty consistent with it) is that men should be financially stable to enter into any relationship. So he should take care of himself first and make sure that he is stable. Otherwise he has no business bringing someone into his life. A man who is not financially stable is setting himself in a lot of hurt and frustration if he cannot provide. That is the nature of a man. A man’s happiness is his ability to be a provider and a protector. Of course you have to be smart too and make sure that the woman is on the same page as you and not taking advantage.

I would tell him to save his money and wait until he comes if that is his intention, unless he can afford to throw money away. Chances are, she has a BF, and even if she doesn't, the chance of a relationship with her working isn't good. I made many of the same mistakes he has, and I have decided that online dating is a loser. They get your money and you get very little in return. Some friendship and love, but it's not real. It's better to just wait until you get to the Phils, IMO.

Have partners to chat with abroad is totally okay, as long as you don't send any money. Maximum is for the load, because she is using it for you (maybe not only you hehe). 5-10 $ is enough for that. And if you sometimes have fantasies about that girl, why not? Thoughts come and go... it's just having a good time to bridge the period you cannot go abroad yet and learn about persons and the country in advance. Sounds to me like he needs a Saint and not a girlfriend. It's just a decision to have good hygiene and it's unlikely that she would look past it. I would ask him, what's the purpose of the fridge. Most likely the fridge was for her family or maybe a nearby sari-sari store that she owed money (utang). In a boarding house expenses are normally a set rate just like the rent. $20 for water in the Philippines is insane, you can't drink it. Mike you mentioned that she might be staying with other girls in the room. It's also possible that she is related (cousins) with them and she is just embellishing the cost so she can pay for them as well. $2000 dollars over a 2.5 month period is terrible. Even if this girl was genuine when they first met, he has ruined her and the entire family by sending the equivalent of nearly 2 years wages in 2 months. He will forever by an ATM now, and once the money dries up, so will her time. Chaulk it up to a charitable donation and work on yourself before visiting the Philippines.

On my journey preparing to live in SE Asia, I met dozens of men who said they want to go like me. All of them live in severe denial. Financially, physically, emotionally they could never leave the US because they don’t have a contract with reality. I do. I lost my loving sweetheart to cancer two years ago and stayed to care for my mom for 10 years - she passed recently. Two weeks after my mom passed I was in SE Asia. I was setting the table for my feast of life. You see I love myself and treat myself accordingly. I don’t abandon myself. I have very high self esteem because I do esteemable acts like take care of my loving partner by myself every day until she passed and the same for my mother. So now it’s my time. Healthy relationships are reciprocal. Even though someone may not be able to be reciprocal financially they can be reciprocal others ways. LDR aren’t healthy and feed unhealthy fantasy

Wow! True story. Listen to this I'm 51 live in Cleveland, Ohio. Unlike that guy. I was an actor and fitness model never had problems with getting a woman. Figured I would try talking to a Philippina. Girl is about 24 lives in Cebu told me she was in America in 2019 but Visa is now expired and wanted to come back. She asked for load on phone. She promised if I help her come to America she will come to Ohio and be with me. She needed this that and the other thing of a long list. In the end she got me for 2500 bucks all dragging it out she would come here and she ghosted me after I stopped sending money and asked for receipts. Her name was Hanna wonder if it's the same girl?

People have no idea what the prices are in Philippines and they compare it to US. A girl working as a store cashier is probably making around 5000 Peso a month which is about a 100 dollars a month and she is able to live off of that. The phone, before I went to PH I was thinking Iphone prices, come to find out you can get a brand new phone(local brand) in Ph for 100 bucks. The worst part about this is that this guy now has ruined this girl and she is expecting a 1000 dollars a month from Mr ATM. World is full of idiots.

If I could just add a bit of advice- There are many of channels to help improve yourself as a man. Start working out, start working on your marketplace value as a man. Take a class in martial arts, join some kind of social group that forces you to socialize. After doing some of that, then think about coming to the Philippines.

If you have issues in the USA, you will have issues wherever you go. Don't think because the Philippines is a developing country with poor people, they will automatically be smitten with you because you are American. This guy in Ohio needs to stay in Ohio, and seek help with regard to his self-esteem issues. Poor hygiene is closely associated with depression. This question goes beyond a guy wondering about getting a woman overseas. This is more about this guy getting help. I live in the Philippines, and am engaged to a Filipina. She tells me the exact same thing about some Americans who really should not be here.

You give some really bad advice, you should not pay anything for any woman until you meet them in person and the only thing you should pay is some small transportation costs and dates. You should not be supporting any woman you are not in a serious/sexual relationship with/see yourself marrying.

It’s a different game nowadays and if you lead with your wallet, women will put you in a box. My experience began in the 90s and I have never sent money to any woman unless we had already been together for considerable amount of time and she was working on her k1 Visa... But even then I find it very unattractive to be with a woman that is plain broke.. she should be working a plan with education and self-sufficient or I'm not interested never confuse money and love.. my last Cambodian fiance instantly disqualified herself buy uttering the words don't you have any money. That was the second it all turned and I decided she was not ever coming to USA.. in essence her value went down to nothing... Also her young teen daughter like to set things on fire

Scott, being shy and or awkward especially around women is not at all uncommon. Nothing wrong with that I was that way until my mid 20's.. But being unkempt and having poor self esteem are things you can change! I strongly suggest you find a counselor who can help with those issues. There is nothing to be ashamed of by visiting with someone who can help work with you. You may be amazed at the difference it could make in your life.

I agree with you. He needs to get off is butt and work on himself and invest in himself before even chatting with a Filipina. Find out where the nearest barbershop is. Get your hair colored if needed. Shave. Clean your house, etc. Additionally, try fixing any medical or dental issues you may have before thinking of coming to the Philippines to retire.

No offense, but by sending money, he is making her more marketable, again nothing is wrong with that, but he is all the way across the world. It’s nice for a woman to depend on a man if the man is present. But he is not. Young beautiful woman , 24, given some sort of a financial independence without the man around is a recipe for disaster. She is just way too young, and without some sort of a guidance it could be bad. He should fly to the Philippines and meet the girl. This way they can really measure each other. The woman who will put up with bad hygiene either will have poor hygiene herself 🤮, or will walk all over you, and have very little respect for you as a man. It doesn’t take much effort to hop in the shower and brush your teeth. If you are attempting to attract and keep a woman, hygiene should be a priority. If you can’t swing that, I’m not sure how you get out of bed everyday.

My opinion is that she is using him and he wants to use her. This is understandable, but, not really a solid basis for a relationship. He doesn’t seem to have enough money to keep feeding her. When the money runs out, what will happen to the relationship? If he still feels strongly about her, he needs to go visit her. But, be ready for a possible ghosting. If she does meet with him, he better have some money. If he runs out, hopefully he can get back home. If she sticks with him after the money runs out, maybe it’s a good sign that she may really be in love. Sending money too early and having sex too early can cloud good judgement.
