I think there are 2 that stand out already, the BY-M1S which sounds loud and clear but has a really hot or high output. And the BY-M1 Pro mk2 without the -10db cut. I think it sounds a little warmer and less background noise.

Interesting comparison of microphones. Both pro versions seemed ok but the orig ro seemed to need a lot of correct both revording and mixing. The pro ver2 sounded best at 0db until you tweaked it and high lvls hissing. Producing videos must be a nightmare! Thanks for sharing Mike and Kath 🐈👍

Yeah it can be. Finding a mic and getting the settings to an acceptable level is tricky

All three sounded pretty good after adjustments in post production, but I think I liked the others over the MK2. You really can't go wrong with BOYA, however. In fact, I own the BOYA BY-XM6-S2 Wireless Lavalier Microphone based partially on a review you did a year or so ago, and it is perfect for my situation. This MK2 might be good as a spare mic just in case. Thanks for the insight.

Sugggestion: Add time video tags on the video with the mic model you were currently using so it’s easier for us the viewers to go back and forth and compare how the mics sounds 👍🏼

8:05 The -10dB really highlighted how overhyped the bass on this lav is at 0dB. I actually appreciated how the cut straightened out the curve with some much needed treble, but as you say it does raise the noise floor too much, and you can hear how the quality suffers and the vocal signal is struggling to hold itself together. My recommendation is to stay on 0dB wherever possible, raise the treble a little and then put a low shelf on 150Hz in some kind of an EQ before gain, if you end up doing audio post production in your video editing software or otherwise. Just my 4 shillings fwiw

The noise floor on both Pro versions sounded higher and worse when you added gain in software. I can hear the difference when I max out my headphone volumes.

The 10 dB pad will do nothing for plosives etc. It will mearly come in handy for overloaded signals.

Sound-wise I liked the Pro the best, but on your recoreder/camera it was too noisy (the Pro mk2 was even worse). The S version was clean.

Thank you for the video. I bought Boya BY M1 PRO II and plugged it in my laptop. I have big trouble when it is not near my mouth. The sound is very bad when i put it on my shirt, the same way you did. When mic is right in front of my mouth, it sounds perfect, but i want to attach it to my shirt. Is there any suggestion?

Hey, i have a problem with my pc, power is on and it wont start after pressing the turn on button on the case. The only fix for that was turn off the psu and after 6-7 sec. Turn on, than it works. No problem in heavy work or gaming or cinebench. Any suggestions? Ty
