Peterbilt Mike, I wish you were my neighbor because I love truck also. I have a massive toy truck collection but never got to drive a semi truck. Those are beautiful logging trucks but there dressed more for show because once those get dirty there going to be hard to clean, if I owned a logging truck I would keep most of it stock. My favorite trucks are International with the Transtar and the emeryville cabovers are my absolute favorites.

@The_JEB3 жыл бұрын
its not the truckers or the loggers that are making the money, its the mills that are gouging over an apparent lumber shortage... but if you drive by the mills especially locally they have enough lumber storage to last them a few months at 100% operating capacity so if all the log haulers and logging companies just all collectively stopped sending out logs to the mills they would need to be able to hunker down for 6 months or more before the mills run out.

The fact that big trucks and trailers are still sold with drum brakes is mind boggling to me. My 579 is equipped with discs on all axles. I won’t go back. Disc are so much better! The shorter stopping distances alone make them worth it. They should be federally mandated if you ask me.

About the tires, anyone who is sourcing tires these days will tell you, that you have to try awful hard to get enough tires of the same brand. @@carlthomas7101 Office jockey by trade. Never drove a truck but I enjoy watching videos of them, and learning about them. I have often wondered why a lot of the trucks in Europe have one rear axle. Based on what you wrote, do the number of rear axles impact how much weight you can haul? Is it because the weight is spread out over more wheels, or?

Scania was available to buy here in North America and didn't do well at all even the T cab didn't sell well. As for the 143 I found them at best mediocre by the end of the production run and the top line streamline was a joke it was a lot of money for a few plastic panels. Volvo Daf Renault and even ERF offered a truck you could stand up in and get dressed in. What did scania offer a seat you could fold down and move forward the FH12 that replaced my 143 was a far better and more reliable truck even though it was only a 460. Nowadays I drive the a dinosaur peterbilt 389 which even compared to a 143 is 40 years behind what european manufacturers have on offer. The one thing is that a see lots of operators running 20year old equipment here whereas in Europe you rarely see motors of that vintage being used daily. I even have a friend over in Manitoba operating a Foden 4000 he bought from a Canadian company which always makes me smile when I see it.
