I'm going to book myself on 1 of your course's 😎 I done your Venetian Plaster course. Also, I'd just like to say. The material we use that day was lovely stuff. High quality Plaster. I'll be ordering a couple kilo's next week. And get some samples whipped up 👍

May I know do we have to use the stone to polish it? Without out this step would it still be waterproof? This process can be hard for big surfaces.
@MikeWyeLtd Жыл бұрын
The stone is an essential part of the water repellency. Due to it's small size it compresses and brings the aggregate together and burnishes the surface

before applying the first layer tadelakt, can i plastered the brick wall with cement?
@MikeWyeLtd Жыл бұрын
Yes you can, you would then need to use a casein or vega primer before the Tadelakt system
@raiwismatara2398 Жыл бұрын
@@MikeWyeLtd or can i do it without cement? just straightly go to tadelakt first layer?thanks
@MikeWyeLtd Жыл бұрын
Our tadelakt system is only a few mm thick, you would need to render a brick wall first, to form a flat base@@raiwismatara2398

how long is it before you can use your bathroom while doing this?
@MikeWyeLtd10 ай бұрын
Hello Jellybear, thanks for your comment. There is no exact timing as material behaviour can vary in different sites. However, Tadelakt should have achieved a good level of strength after four weeks, so in water exposure areas (showers etc) we would try to leave it for that length of time (or longer) if possible.

so we need an alternative bathroom for 4weeks..?@@MikeWyeLtd

I saw you mix water in with the pigment, but I did not see you mix the pigment with the Tadelakt. When does that happen? Thanks.
@MikeWyeLtd3 жыл бұрын
Hi, it is best to dilute the pigment to a paste, then add this to the required amount of water. Give it a good mix and then add the tadelakt powder.

what is the layer you put on in part 1? Isnt that tadelakt, too? I'm confused, what is the difference between the material of the layer you put on in part 1 and this part?
@MikeWyeLtd2 жыл бұрын
In the first part I use the Lime Wall Finish backing coat. The Tadelakt in this instance is the coloured plaster.
@buildyear862 жыл бұрын
@@MikeWyeLtd Ah, crap. Excuse me, I didn't notice. What is the difference in terms of their composition? Tadelakt is hydraulic lime and sand. But what is the composition of the lime wall finish backing coat? Is it possible to put that lime wall finish on wood? I am making a wood piece of furniture and plan on doing tadelakt on top (fixing a hemp mesh onto the wood first). Do you think that would work? I am afraid of cracks because of wood moisture and cracks because of wood expansion/contraction due to temperature changes. Is this something to worry about? Thanks!
@MikeWyeLtd2 жыл бұрын
@@buildyear86 The plasters aren't recommended for use on timber. The lime wall finish is a hydrated lime and marble dust plaster and the tadelakt is a natural hydraulic lime and marble.

Does the lime have sand mixed in with it?

The aggregates in the tadelakt are marble dust, quartz sand and clay
