Hi Mikey, really nice!!! I have used flat wounds on my 1963 P-Bass for the last 4 years and I have to say that I really love that sound, but right now I actually feel that I want to get some a little more aggressive / funky sounds out of my old bass. Fabian Wendt Thanks a lot for the compliment! That 60's P is such a great bass, and versatile too. Glad you are into that sound! I actually JUST strung this bass with la bella flat wounds and she sounds GREAT. I also put a scotch brite sponge under the strings by the bridge (no, seriously) and put the tone at 1/2 up, and it sounds just like a bass Jamerson would have played on "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" back in the day. I will hopefully post a video with that set up soon... Thanks again and keep up the great grooves! -Mikey

Mikey Hachey Hi Mikey, it's really funny that we are both experimenting with different types of strings at the same time and in opposite directions (sound wise)! Do you know the BASS MUTE? You can see it on my bass in my videos. It really is a great tool, cause you can change from an unmuted to a muted sound within a song in less than 2 seconds.

I know it's a minority opinion...but this helps prove my point a P-bass sound better than a Jazz when slapped...the P has a built in dirty funk tone.
