11:30 finally I see a South African C47TP, Denel and the South African airforce did the conversions in the 90s at a few bases. I was stationed at Airforce base Ysterplaat at Cape Town where they did it. I was part of the ground crew (bulk fuel) so was around them a lot. Ours were painted light blue lower and a dark camo patch above at the roof area. Good old days.

A thoroughly nice episode you have weaved together here Mikey. You sketch of the Harvard for the CHAA is really neat, I'm sure that will raise a pretty penny for their funds. Great to see the footage from Benoit, he is a real star for continuing to do all he does, looking forward to seeing more of him over the coming weeks. Top marks to Stella for all her work with organising the volunteer team, a vital job she will have doubtless have all safely in hand. I really enjoyed the he trip into the Metal Shop, Dan's work on the elevator looks superb, he's obviously a real talented perfectionist. The Sun n Fun segment was really interesting, all those ledgendry planes all in one place. Looking forward to seeing those DDay planes in the skies over England in June. Also loved the South African Turbine DC3 too. Good luck to the DDay Squadron on there long journey. And last but never ever least, a nice fun conversation with Chuck before you depart... You are really blessed having him to work alongside every day. I wish you all safe travels, and look forward to seeing you in Montreal tomorrow. Regards, David Jones, Coventry, UK.

This was an emotional video as you are on your way now to Montreal to get down to the business of restoration on the Plane Savers DC-3,a landmark episode for not only the series but for yourself Mikey who must feel very proud of what you have set up only a short while ago,I have a strong feeling that we are in for some surprises in the coming weeks and indeed some practical challenges too. The outer wings on the DC-3 attach in quite a unique way in that there are many bolts holding them in place, one reason the DC-3 has lasted so long is the wing construction with no lifed spars as fitted to modern aircraft,we will soon witness this when those wings are detached ready for inspection. Rod will miss you I am sure,he really is quite a character, aviation is full of characters from ground crew to pilots and Buffalo has their fair share of them too ! see you in Montreal Mikey with plenty of interesting new content to watch.

I will see if I can find Wtvm channel 9 news story and send it to you . You have a safe flight Mikey !!

The wing flanges will be fine, positive thinking. actually leaving the wings off is not a bad thing since it makes easier to get around the aircraft and less chances to damage anyting. Good news is the medical Quacks have cleared me to drive the 7 hours to St Hubert, i will be there may 10th for a few days.

My claim to fame was remove and replace one wing on a C 141 with 3 other hands that never touched a wing. Guys from tireshop. It went on eventually. Took 5 hours using gas powered crane. You had to fond the fulcrum to nalance the wing upon removal. The wing tip which is narrower than the stock which attachrs to the fuselage but it contains uranium to act as a counterweiht. So the center of gravity is almost in the middle but not quite. It has to line up with the wing bolys evenly and parts must be hand nimbered to go back in the right places because they are varying lengths from 3 inches to 6 inches long. So it is a delicate operation more than you would think. Be careful.

Hi Mikey. Another great episode. This two parter has been great. Loving the drawing of the Harvard. It'also called the Harvard by the British. Texan by the USAF, SNJ by the US Navy. And iirc the Tomcat by the french (who used it as a ground attack aircraft. All the best and stay safe. Greg.

Zoche aero made a two stroke radial Diesel, but as far, as i know, it's only meant to power small drones up to 300hp. If it would be availlable for historic planes, then you can probably save the original look, too.
