Anyone else find that after about 12-13 minutes it becomes ridiculous, then surreal, then hilarious - best enjoyed over a few beers. Great game; as every (subsequent) image pops up, you have to shout either the character and/or movie/series (extra point if you can do both) - so "Tim O'Connor Dr. Huer Buck Rogers" gets you 3 points.Try it - it's FUN!

I had the ENORMOUS Pleasure of meeting Mr. Conrad at his home in Sherman Oaks in 1983. What a wonderful guy. He took the time to talk Cannon episodes with me, let me photograph him AND his home and gave me a great memory that I still treasure. Not to mention that Cannon, great as it was was only ONE of a LIST of accomplishments in his varied and amazing trek through the world.

How did you get to meet William Conrad? From Ms. Harper Stacey.
@rf396
@rf396 Жыл бұрын
@@harperstacey9604 In 1983 I took a trip to California to meet someone in Canoga Park about possible help in my musical endeavors. I was there for a week. When I first got there I was traveling through East L.A. and beside an abandoned gas station I saw what looked an awful lot like The Partridge family bus. But being young and naive I though no that has to be some kind of replica. the real one must be owned by someone. It was years later I found out that really had been it. So, kind of following that logic of being able to come across interesting things out there I decided to try one of those maps to the stars homes. I found a dude hawking some on the corner and sure enough there he was. William Conrad, Sherman Oaks. It had his street address on it as well. I made my way over there and did a drive by. Nice house, but not ostentatious. It was on a corner lot If a remember. White with a white 8 foot wall around it and a remote control gate. I stopped on the street and waited. It was near dinner time and I thought that might be a time to catch him running to the store or something. 10 minutes later the gate opened and out he came in in a Mercedes 560 SL with a vanity plate that said DARNOC. Conrad backwards. So I followed him for a bit hoping to catch him at the store, but then I got hinky about it. I figured all those years as Cannon, he may know he has a tail. So I went back to his house and waited. he came back and while he was waiting for gate to open I figured ok dummy its now or never. I ran up to his drivers window and gently knocked. He gave that awesome Cannon surprised look with the big eyes. LOL. I said Mr. Conrad I'm very sorry to bother you but I'm out here from Massachusetts and I am a HUGE fan of yours could I talk to you for 5 minutes? He looked me up and down and figured I wasn't dangerous and said sure , just let me put the car away. He came back out and we talked about Cannon. I asked him about one of my favorite episodes. the one where Jack Cassidy is trying to kill him and he had all the life sized targets of himself made to distract Cassidy. I was hoping he had kept one that I could see but he said the crew all grabbed them. He let me take his picture and one of his house and shook my hand. I'm not a small guy and have good sized mitts but mine was dwarfed by his. When I got home and showed my bandmates ( also huge Cannon Fans) the pics and they were pissed that they didnt go. Ha Ha sorry not sorry. LOL

@@rf396 thank you so much for your reply. You were so lucky to meet William Conrad. I'm glad that he was very nice to you. William Conrad was a very talented actor. I love watching this. Virtually everyone in this list is a recognizable name. It looks like QM used some of these people in all five seasons. They paid much better than most other studios (and gave much better placement in the credits than others, especially Universal). QM kept going as long as it did because the attention they gave their shows was a big cut above, and audiences knew it.

This is one of the reasons a Quinn Martin was so great, some of the BEST character actors were introduced and afterwards whenever you saw them you knew their name, LOL. It always irritated me when you would recognize an actor over and over but not know their name. Also, Martin's shows always had good plots and good acting. Look at these faces...the creme of the crop of character actors. There are a few people who never appeared on a QM production like the wonderful Paul Richards and Charles McGraw. I'm surprised they didn't because their faces were plastered on tv from the 50s through 70s. Also, QM shows always had great theme music, LOL

Lest anyone think that the intros at 9:08-9:48 were the same one played twice by mistake, be aware that these were for what was originally aired as a two-hour special season premiere in September 1973 (opening the 1973-74 season), but which was subsequently broken up into two one-hour episodes in syndication, each needing its own intro -- both of which are included here. Then again, the same is true of the episode whose intro is shown from 22:24 to 22:49 -- originally aired as a special 2-hour episode (December 10, 1975), but subsequently broken up into two one-hour episodes in syndication; though in this instance, the intro is only shown once.

This is great! Love it! Will have to watch it again & count how many appearances each guest star made on the show. Remember, as a youngster in the mid 70's, there was a dude in thick glasses who would sit in his car & listen to the Cannon theme before going to mass on Saturday evenings. After communion, he would genuflect at the Pew & then quickly sneak out of the church to go back out to his car & listen again to the Cannon theme before pulling out of the church parking lot. My brother & I thought he was hilarious. Got to see Jess Walton 3 times on this video compilation. Still adore her to this day.

Anne Baxter, Barry Sullivan and David Janssen ("special guest star") all in one episode! I looked it up and it's called "He Who Digs a Grave" from 1973 and was a two-parter. I thought at first it might be a crossover episode with Janssen playing O'Hara from his Quinn Martin show, but no he plays a different character.

This is sooo..... EPIC! I always loved these type of opening credits on a show and anyone who came along after the demise of the TV theme song simply cannot have had as fun a time watching television. The bulk of the run of "Cannon" was populated by the same, familiar but hardly household-name performers, but every once in a while a true star would scream out like a comet from the line-up! It's fascinating to see how the actors changed - or didn't change - over time. (And sometimes their names changed.) What's really useful (well... maybe useful isn't the term 'cause what in the hell could you do with it?!) is how the announcer helps make you understand how to say some of those really unusual names that you've seen in print, but not heard (Alf Kjellin anyone? the ever-present Ramon Bieri... Anthony Zerbe's "e" is NOT silent, etc...) "Cannon" was a surprisingly outdoorsy show, with so many locations. Also notable is that these are only the top-billed guests. Many others didn't make the cut, but later became more famous. Mark Hamill, Max Gail, Leif Garrett, Roger E. Mosley, Jeanne Cooper, James B. Sikking, Ed Lauter in just the first season alone. Oh, and every time Robert Pine was shown, it was clear that his son Chris inherited his gorgeous looks from papa!

To MOVIE JON read your CANNON:EVERY GUEST STAR comment and I noticed a charactor actor must have a few points TV SERIES starring parts behind him/her to qualify as SPECIAL GUEST STAR!!! Such as SIMON OAKLAND after appearing on the UNTOUCHABLES a time in the past so a few episodes later on HE became SPECIAL GUEST STAR!! (and especially after doing WEST SIDE STORY in 1961 as that UNTOUCHABLES SPECIAL GUEST STAR episode was early 1962!) THANKS for your GREAT COMMENT 2 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!

you must not have watched much television not to notice that guest actors were often booked more than once in a series that lasted more than one season - one quality of journeymen & women actors besides their reliable acting is their ordinariness - they can come back in another role - and almost no one in the audience will notice - you didn't

Positively hypnotic. Some random thoughts: 2:48, 18:19 a more mature Barbara Luna , past her cheesecake days on Hawaii 5-O 10:11 Two characters from the Godfather, Alex Rocco (Moe Green), Julie Gregg (Sonny's wife) 11:36 Never heard of Mark Miller, but I guess being a David Janssen lookalike didn't hurt. 19:43 I guess they were a package deal from Barnaby Jones 21:36 Paula Kelly where were you all my young life? 21:47 Actually prefer this older look to Ginger. 22:26 I guess too many competing egos were booked that week. 24:56 Nancy Mehta formerly Nancy Kovack still looking good after 15 years in the business One final note, for some, not all, being a 'Special Guest Star' was a ticket to obscurity. Wonderful work, really enjoyed the trip down the lane.

the usual order of ordinary guest stars and a Special Guest Star was probably up-ended - as an old-time actress and Big Movie Star - Joan Fontaine might have insisted on being first on the list instead of last - and putting the rest "in alphabetical order" emphasized that fact

Besides reruns of Downton Abbey, Cold Case, Touched By An Angel, & Dr. Quinn, I seldom watch any programs out within the last decade save for PBS & HGTV...excluding some movies on Amazon Prime & a few box office films that air in reruns. Their scene at the beginning of the movie is the BEST scene in the ENTIRE movie and that's saying a lot because it's a good movie. McGraw and Conrad SHOULD BE REQUIRED viewing for anyone trying to play a villain. Notice I said REQUIRED viewing. The way they verbally assaulted the folks in the diner has to be seen to be believed. C&McG were unbelievable. And the way they calmly shot up Burt Lancaster was COLD.
