I am using a variegated yarn so no need to change colors on each round. However, how do I transition from round two to round three? From the single crochet to the first double crochet space?

Could you start with the magic circle to prevent the buckling in the beginning?

You can but you can also pull on the yarn straggler to close up the circle just as with the magic circle.

I am having problem getting the pattern to work. I keep ending up with the wrong number of DCs between each peak. I think the problem happens on the yellow or green row. Has anyone had a similar problem?

I keep getting stuck on round six when I go around and skip the single crochet to count up I'm getting 7 instead of 6! I've frogged 4x already and can't figure out where I'm going wrong! It's supposed to only add 1 each round and not 2 right?? Please help??

You could try to message Yarnspirations through their website to inquire. I don't know where buy yarn in the UK, so I am not much of a help. That's I would do if I were you.

These Star blankets are so pretty, but I can't imagine in my head how you cover up with them since we aren't star or round shaped. Do you just have a lot of extra blanket on two sides? Do you fold them in half and put over your lap? I'd love to see a picture of one in use.

I spread a 5 point star over my toddlers bed, and she usually holds a point while she sleeps. If she is not holding a point, i pull the valley between two points halfway up her arm or chest.

I don't understand the question. I'm sorry. I would just do a star to about 36" across the points. If that's what you mean. I don't know how many DC that would be though as I didn't design it as a baby version.

I have a probably stupid question. When a blanket is done in this or any chunky yarn. How is it not really heavy, to the point of being uncomfortable to use when done? Nothing against Mikey at all just curious... I love chunkier yarns but even worsted weight seems heavy to me by the time it's done. Maybe it's just me and I crochet too tightly.

Blueyedrebel I think it depends on the yarn, because you can get a really dense chunky yarn, that's meant more for like thick scarves, but then there's lighter bulky yarn that's more for blankets and is softer and lighter.

I've done blankets with the blanket yarn. It doesn't seem to be as heavy as some of the other yarns. But it still works great and is super soft

I have made several stars in the past. For some reason I could not get this pattern to work correctly. I tried three time last night and gave up. It was after the green round. I started in the stitch shown. But it was too. many stitches after the peak. I gave up :(

Same here. I get 1 extra DC each time I change colors. I am still going. The second round of the same color only goes up by 1 DC but every time I change colors I am up by 2. Still going. Will see what happens.

A true rainbow has seven colours not six : red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo(purple)and violet.

Indigo is actually mostly dark blue. He probably didn't't want to be redundant with two shades of blue.

The visible light spectrum is such a limitation. I wish we could at least see ultraviolet light…rainbow shrimp have like 17 light cones in their retinas, try to imagine the insane colors and wavelengths they can see

You can use any yarn for this pattern, but if you use a finer yarn, then you will need more, as you are going to need to do more rows to get the same size blanket at the end.

I have tried to see what is going on with the start of the second row. Does it go in the front part of the stitch - or the front and back of the stitch??? Without seeing what is going on - I cant do this. I have to have the sound down as to not disturb my husband while he sleeps - so without words at the bottom of the video or at least to see what is going on - this tutorial is not that great.

K.D. Glover you go thru both the front and back of the first stitch. Skip where you chained 2 and go into the first hdc. Hope that helps.
