I’ve listened to all of the major recordings of the Schumann concerto, including but not limited to Alfred Cortot, Dinu Lipatti, Sviatoslav Richter, Martha Argerich, Radu Lupu, and others, and man… I have to say, this is the one I keep coming back to. Such a vibrant, vivid, deeply human interpretation of the piece. The artistic freedom of Pletnev’s play is astounding.

Dear Micaela! I did had Russian tv chanell in 1990s i watched and taped Pletnev's Beethoven piano concerto no 2! Also when Pletnev was playing with Finnish Radio Symphony Beethoven piano concerto no 5 and encore so powerful Grieg Carnival by Pletnev! Half time that concerto they intervied Pletnev who said that the Finale of Beethoven concerto no 5 is important it can not be toi fast when it falls apart! Or too slow then it is not Great Art! Same interview Pletnev claiming that ABM is the only one close perfection playing Beethoven concerto no 5! It was good to have Russian tv Eurosport Finnish Tv and Swedish tv chanells i watched all figure skating champion ships and taped my VCR VHS tapes!

The best piano concerto in my opinion in the post-classical era. Robert Schumann, becoming Beethoven's heir, said: Papa Beethoven, I will do everything as you taught me, but I will decorate this music a little because a new generation of young people has come to Germany who want freedom And then Franz Schubert and the Genius Richard Wagner. I love German classics. Papa Bach, this is a separate story.

Ну я бы не сказал, что именно затяжно, а просто не стандартно и непривычно для многих. У него это звучит органично и убедительно. И да, никто как Плетнёв и Владимир Горовиц в своё время, не показывали красоту каждой делали в музыке, при этом сохраняя идеальное чувство целого.

Wow! It is really very Wow! Плетнёв здесь просто удивил, порадовал, потряс и ошеломил. Что-то с ним случилось в Грузии! От этого исполнения просто невозможно оторваться, забываешь дышать в ожидании следующей фразы, новой интонации, необычного найденного акцента. Старый, затёртый до дыр, всеми любимый концерт заиграл новыми звуками, заблестел новыми яркими красками. Здесь концерт не звучит "филармонически", здесь он заговорил человеческим языком. Кажется, что Плетнёв просто решил прикольнуться, но получилось что-то неслыханно интересное, живое, яркое и эмоциональное. Хочется также отметить и прекрасный грузинский оркестр во главе с дирижёром: ребята, вы все классные, очень живые и потрясающие ансамблисты. Брави! Это просто реальный джаз! Брави!

I ever thought Emil von Sauer, Clara Haskil, Elisso Virsaladze and Martha Argerich were the pianists that riassume all what is to say about this concerto. Once again Pletnev showed to me I was wrong: Not the traditional interpretation, finally an excellent alternative interpretation of Schumann's concerto. Now I have 5 favourite interpretations: Emil von Sauer, Clara Haskil, Elisso Virsaladze, Martha Argerich and Mikhail Pletnev. He is truly always good for a positive surprise 🥰

プレトニョフは若い時からこの様なタイプの演奏でギレリスやソコロフの様な典型的なロシアン奏法ではなかった様に認識していた。どちらかと言うとピアノが上手い作曲家の演奏と思ってしまう 歳をとって身体も硬くなって余計にそれを感じさせた演奏と思います。柔軟性が無いと言う点ではポリーニも共通してる様に思える。しかしオケは指揮者共々良く頑張っていますよね

I'm sorry, but Pletnev has become a caricature of his former glorious self. This performance is perverse, with all sorts of egregious and unwritten excesses, misplaced and unwritten sforzandos, erratic tempos changes within phrases, often no phrasing at all. Slow tempi when should be fast, and fast when should be slow! Wrong notes abound as well. Sad. Just compare this to his magnificent live Tchaikovsky 1 and Beethoven 3, both with the great conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev, and you will discover one of the greatest musicians and pianists of all time. The same thing happened to Ivo Pogorelich, now a ridiculous caricature of his former self.

La versione più egocentrica e egoistica di questo concerto che abbia mai ascoltato. Caricaturale. Pletnev suona (e canta) Pletnev non Schumann. Un capolavoro ridotto a un mediocre giochino capriccioso. Per non parlare degli attacchi al tasto con accenti assolutamente fuori luogo. Sembra stia studiando a casa sua: sgrammaticato e privo di senso. Distorcere la forma per dare nuovi significati (peraltro assolutamente arbitrari) non vuol essere necessariamente sinonimo di genialità...
