In the mating position, anything wrong with Rf7 intending Qg7#? Seems the only defense is Rg8, but then Qh4+ Bh7 Qxh7#.

Tal is not simply the greatest attacking grandmaster of all time, he is simply put the greatest chess player of all time, even if not objectively so. Tal was an artist first and a chess master second. Besides, Karpovian chess is boring. Give me Tal or Lasker anyday!

players like tal hate to draw games. tal was hungry for only a win. Thats why he went to the extent of sacrificing so many pieces in order for better activity of his pieces or for opening his opponent s defense. And also he did that with excellent positional and attacking play.

It is true that 3 of Tals' pieces never entered the game. 2 black rooks never really entered the game, either. Still....half a dozen moves before the end of the game it appeared that Tal had an overwhelming attack. Two of his attacking pieces were sacrificed so you do not see them on the final board diagram. Mato, when are you going to publish your next book "Mikhail Tal's 50 Most Boring Chess Games"? Just kidding, your videos are terrific, thank you!

2:16 why not to just capture the pawn on d6? Black cannot take because then Nxd6 and black is losing his castling rights. And if black castles, then f5 gives a big advantage, isn't it?

As many have said in other videos Tal is the Mike Tyson of chess and Kasparov the floyd mayweather. While kasparov may not lose, it is an uninteresting style of play while Tal never stops going for the throat, sacrificing life and limb to get the king

There was that one game of Tal where he played black and had a "hanging" rook at f3 for like 8 moves - for the taking - only it was poisoned all the time but for changing reasons. Ever since I saw that one Tal is one of my favorites.
