7 years ago I randomly stumbled over Matsubara's songs "It's so creamy" and "stay with me" while on my first longer stay abroad. They are two of the first city pop songs I have since been listening to non-stop. Now I'm on my third longer adventure in a foreign country and these songs still follow me wherever I go~ I feel like city pop has such a unique way of capturing the nostalgia for long gone summer days and nights. And while these songs accompany me throughout the years they become naturally intertwined with my own memories of past summers, serving as a time-machine that connects us throughout time and space.

@monochrome It's quite normal in Japan to work till death and I guess it was more or less similar case with her which is why after being told by her doctor that she had uterine cervix cancer and she had only 3 months to live, she quit her music career immediately and decided to spent the rest of the time with her family. She lived for 3 more years after being diagnosed with cancer. I suppose she always wanted to spent more time with her family but I don't think so that 3 years are enough of it, I think she wanted more time which is why she started to regret her music career coz making music while being a popular singer is hard. I hope she's not regretting her life wherever she is. I hope within the last 3 years of her life she had spent her time happily with her family. I hope she got the time she wanted to spent with her family before passing on.

I was born very far from Japan but Saw plenty of their shows from the department of culture, some education shows also, and the other day I was checking that show about the first time kids do their first trip to the store I Remember doing the same, also streets look alike, I remember the clothing and how people were less vocal also less sexualized and people were less dependant on others opinions, good times definitely. I miss that, things like playing with random kids was fun also, I algo remember that it used to be and underground scene for music like this.
