Thank you for your "real world" review instead of just specifications! I have H9's and only had them for a couple of months, but will be selling for the H95. I also bought some E8 V3 at the same time & have to say I've had nothing but problems with them. I had a pair of the original E8 V1 & could never really get a good "seal", but I also had constant problems connecting to my iPhone - to the point that they sat in the box for 18months......I ordered the silicone ear-tip/wings from B&O in February (to help with the fit) & am still waiting for a reply!?! I then noticed the E8 V3 had been released & were 15% smaller than the original, so figured that their smaller size & weight would help with my fit & they did for short period, but then the supplied tips just didn't work properly & AGAIN, have problems connecting to my phone. EVERYTIME I take them out of the case, I have to disconnect from the phone & pair them again. (Now they don't even go into BLUETOOTH connecting mode). So I will be selling these E8 V3 also... :( So these just don't work for me, I want to love them, because the sound was great (when they worked), but the frustration is too much. I have a pair of MASTER & DYNAMIC MW07 which connect every single time with NO problems & with their WING-TIPS, stay in my ears all the time. Also I prefer the controls of the M & D. Thanks again.

Thank you taking the time in putting together a very relaxed honest, and informative and detailed review and sharing your genuine comparison experience and enthusiasm with the H95 which I have on order by the way in Australia they are very rare and if you even find a seller they are about AUS $1400.00 Being in B&O family I also have the E8, E8 Gen 3, E8 Sport, H9 Gen 3, and now with the newly refined B&O app with a great control and custom tips for the E8 series for the perfect seal I am very happy with them all and love the B&O sound signature. For the Records with all do respect I couldn’t give a fuck about the ANC being cancelled during the calls or not in H95 and the way some people glorify the fuck out of it like it’s a catastrophic failure !!! If you can’t stand it then use a fucking audio cable with it, It’s like hating My Golf R because side mirrors do not fold at park but every other VW I had did and then start shit bagging VW. For Fuck sake honestly ... thanks again for a very enjoyable review and keep up the good work. Respect ✊ Subbed

The H95 are expensive, so expecting the ANC to continue working during calls is not unreasonable at all. After all, that is the expected behaviour and how other brands work. However, I am glad that doesn't bother you.

Many thanks for the review which I enjoyed watching. I have very happily owned the H7 and then H9i, and have just also bought the H95. I agree that the SQ is excellent, a definite step up from the H9is, and they aren't even properly broken in yet. I'm interested in your comments on the strength of the noise cancelling on the H95s however, which is making me wonder if mine are faulty. You say that "this adaptive anc is ridiculously good. If nothing is playing and it's on max I can barely hear my tv until I get to volume 40 and I have Beolab 50s". In Beotalk #122 you comment that "if you start doing that [clicking fingers] I don't hear myself click". If I have nothing playing on the H95s but with the anc on max, and listen to content at even modest volume, I can hear external noises and finger clicking quite clearly, albeit quieter. My hearing is normal, not exceptional. Do you therefore think they may be faulty?
@Mikipedia
@Mikipedia 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mjim, silly first question, do you have the dial fully to the correct position? on all the way? :p Also do the ear-cups fully seal around your ears? If I throw them on but aren't fully seated around my ears I have the same, so maybe it's that? It's hard to judge from a distance. This type of adaptive anc is definitely more subtle than than the anc on H9's where you just get blasted. My tv is on right now and they are fully seated around my ears and I don't really hear it, it's spoken word though so maybe that's it?! If I hear anything at all it's so quiet that if I don't focus on it I stop hearing it, as in my breathing sounds louder to me than the tv does :p Do you have dealer nearby to test? other than that I don't know what to say.
@mjim7775

@@Mikipedia Many thanks for your response. I set the ANC via my iphone, so ANC turned on, and set to the max level. An issue may be my slightly unusual Danish spectacles which create a v small opening by ears through which a v small amount of sound could be leaking. However I have tried again and still don't seem to get the same level of anc you are suggesting. It's pretty good, but not as you describe. I may return them as they were sent by post (non B&O specialist audio retailer), surprisingly just sent in just a plastic bag, so the box arrived with damaged corners and I have no idea what sorts of impacts they went through and the internals (e.g. a microphone) could may also therefore be damaged. At this price for headphones I want to be confident that they're not faulty. The stores here in London were telling me stock will be back in in mid November ... Once again, many thanks for taking the time to reply and for your videos which I very much enjoy.
@Mikipedia
@Mikipedia 3 жыл бұрын
Excuse me, a plastic bag?! What the heck is going on there? I mean, the box can take a hit but it's not ment for sending like that at all. It might very well be shaken around a bit too much, but if the box is severely dented it may have been dropped a fair few times. Maybe while you're at it, try a pair in the shop and see if the showroom model works better for you to see and compare? They're obviously made with an average head with average ear, and we may have different ears lol. Like I said earlier, if I throw them on quickly with my glasses and all the anc effect can be somewhat compromised on my ears too, only noticed that after filming and still trying them etc. :)

Mikipedia Many thanks, yes just couriered in a plastic bag. I’m also thinking that the reason the one pair suddenly appeared in stock was because the previous recipient had rejected the bashed box. Great review, I just subscribed. I wondering about the headband on the H4 gen 2. I recently picked up the first gen version at a good price but had to return them after just a few days because I noticed the leather on the headband starting to sort of flake off or kind of peal like when you graze your skin on the edges where they fold and on the corners. I got a full refund and I'm between paying extra for the H9 or considering the gen 2 H4, I just don't want to run into the same problem with wear on the headband. (Replacing broken pair of H7 because of a faulty power switch). Does the headband leather on your H4 gen 2s seem durable? I saw no wear on the H7 in 3 years but after a few day I saw few scuff on the corners on the H4 first gen. I was being careful with them and have a good carry case.

@Mikipedia
@Mikipedia 3 жыл бұрын
I'll have to get a pair in, not sure they'd (sony) would want to sponsor that :p But the H95's may sound a little bass light to some, but it's because they don't colour the sound like so many other do. When you use a bass heavy track, like the 3 I put in the description, it's all there and it's like you strapped a subwoofer to your head :p They're insanely accurate over the entire frequency range, and the new titanium drivers are super quick to respond to any input (and stop again). Also Adaptive ANC is truly the future, it's so much better than regular ANC :D

No, I think you're misunderstanding what is happening. The slider controls the amount of ANC applied, the toggle switch controls whether the ANC is on or off as a function. The slider is also on the left earcup ring, as in turn it for the amount of clarity/passthrough or ANC you like.

Cool review! Just curious about the noise cancelling. Is the ANC as good as something like Sony XM4 or Airpods Pro? Can you say that the transparency mode is as good as the Airpods Pro? I am just a little bit disappointed that they could bring an H1 chip from Apple into this premium headphones. This would really make it even better (due to the simple and smooth pairing of the device with any Apple devices which was released last week and also the spatial audio feature).
@Mikipedia
@Mikipedia 3 жыл бұрын
The H95's have adaptive ANC which is rather different. it's also way more subtle, the H9's sorta nuke your head to get all the noise out and it feels very unpleasant to me as it's like being in an aeroplane taking off. The H95's block static noise but also incidental noises which normal ANC doesn't do. I don't have any weird feeling with that in my ears and it blocks out so much I hear my own footsteps trough my skeleton again, which was weird initially :p So I would suggest trying it as it's not the same thing anymore, I much prefer it. I can't hear my TV like I said until it's over volume 40 which is above normal listening level to me, and that is without anything playing. If music is playing and aANC is on, it makes me basically deaf to the outside world :p The pairing is really quick btw and you don't have to do anything for it other than have Bluetooth on on your phone and turn the headphones on and wait ~10-15 seconds if that and it auto connects really fast. Does any other brand actually have the H1 chip onboard?! And Apple would've had to tell people/companies about it which in turn could've delayed the release for minimal gain imho.
@alainding
@alainding 3 жыл бұрын
Mikipedia Fair point about the H1 chip. The only devices which also had the H1 chip is the Beats headphones. I really wish they could collaborate for that purpose. Because switching devices (Laptop, iPhone and iPad) is currently so smooth! That‘s how every other pairing should be. You are watching a movie on your laptop, you get a call, you pick your phone up, Airpods switches to your phone without you doing anything. That‘s what I wish for :) „Spatial audio“ is another cool feature where you have your headphones on and depending on how you move your head, the sound will change direction :) And the adaptive ANC sounds amazing. If they really are on pair with the Airpods Pro (transparency mode) and on pair with the Sony XM4, then we really have a clear winner :D I agree with you that the H9 does have a weird ANC mode. When I compare the H9 with the Airpods Pro then I have a clear winner, and that‘s the Airpods. But I prefer the H9 for watching a movie since the sound is much better :) And normally I am in a pretty quiet room so ANC is not suuuuuper important.
@Mikipedia
@Mikipedia 3 жыл бұрын
as you probably know Beats is also Apple nowadays and I don't think they'll share their tech for free, it'll come at a hefty price and probably too hefty for a small company like B&O. The H95's are better than the H9's in every way you can think off, so they might well be the champion you're looking for ;) Also on my head the H95's are way more comfortable than the sony's as I can wear the sony's for ~hours as my ears touch the inner plastic over the drivers. I don't have that with any of the B&O headphones and the H95's in particular are so comfortable I can easily wear them for 6+ hours :D
@alainding
@alainding 3 жыл бұрын
Mikipedia yeah that‘s true. Maybe there will be a collaboration from Apple and B&O for the 100 year celebration. Who knows 😜 Happy to hear that the H95 feels better on your head. the call quality is in the beginning bit of the video, Skype sounds really similar to phone calls. I have the same issue when using the headset for a call on my laptop - if something captures the connection for a second then the mic stops working. I have no dropouts or other issues when I use the headset for music. To me this sounds like a firmware issue - I have experienced similar issues on some of my other headsets. I was just wondering if anyone else have seen this. I love this channel and the enthusiasm shown when presenting this stuff - so thanks :)

that's a loaded question, but I would say the H95's win on every front. The xm4's are good but really plastic-y, these are almost entirely metal and to me more comfortable on my ears. hope that helps?

@@Max-gc3bp I personally prefer the H95's and I haven't heard any distortion from the H95's either. They go way too loud for my ears to be at max volume for very long :p Sound is sort of personal but the build quality isn't even in the same league. They feel, smell (lol), and sound pure premium high end headphone :D

That is a tricky question :) I tried too briefly the BEO H95 and the XM4, i dont like the gap the H95 leave on my head when i look in the mirror.So even if they are premium built, i prefer the look of the XM4. They were both super comfy for my big head I do prefer the physical controls over the XM4, i did not manage to change volume on the XM4 (demo pair) Sound wise, i have a preference for one rather than the other...but i wont give it here since it will not be objective or fair. BEO has apt-x adaptive (format of the future) so for me that's a win but my phone does not have aptx-hd but only LDAC and regular aptx...I still think aptx is better on some aspects.(better battery life too) I also was not too impressed by both transparence and ANC mode on the B&O in the shop, mind you, I could not do a direct comparison with the Sony neither. I think they should be ok in a plane or an office, but in the street with cars i was not really convinced...but again too short time to test... I could not try the call function but i heard it is good. I suppose i would not regret buying them but i am more drawn to some of the automated features and better noise cancellation of the XM4 to sacrifice a little built quality. I dont like the B&O app. Too be fair i would need to test them in various conditions and for several days to have a definitve opinion on either...

Thanks for the in-depth review of the H95 headphones. I wonder could the reason that the Transparency Mode on the H95/E8 3rd generation has less lag than the H9s be due to B&O switching to Bluetooth 5.1 for the E8s and H95s?

I was fully prepared to buy the H9's but after this video I'm wondering if I should just go with the H4 and save some money? I definitely don't want to swing the extra for the H95. The Sony XM4 have so many good reviews but I want something more special. Got any advice for me?

I don't know where you are in the world but here the H9 3rd gen are discounted to 350 euro and the H4's gen 2 are 300 euro. If that is the same for where you are I'd get the H9's, but if not I would get the H4's. I love my H4's gen 2, use them every day for well over a year and still love them like the first day. :D one good thing is there are no bad choices here!

Thank you so much! I'm in Sweden, so I don't think the prices should be too different for me. Although I haven't come across a H9 3rd gen for less than 400 euro, and the H4 2nd gen around 300. But there is also the option of getting the H9i (the previous gen) for 200, and that kind of interests me. What do you think?
@Mikipedia

@@REDnBLACKnRED I am looking at the official B&O website here and it shows those prices for H9 3rd gen. Do you have any way of testing them out before you buy? I'd lean slightly towards the H4 over h9i but it's a personal choice and preference. I also hardly ever use ANC as indoors with the seal of the H$ and H9's you're basically deaf already :p keeping them on your head without anything playing and having a conversation is really really hard :p

@@Mikipedia Haha, I don't really care about ANC either. I have a pair of AirPods pro that do the job at restaurants and flights. I really just want a very good sounding pair of headphones. Sadly none of the stores near me carry these headphones so I can't test them. I just assumed the higher end models also have better sound, but from your input the H4's sound like they're just as good! Maybe I'll just go for that. Thanks for helping out!

@@REDnBLACKnRED The H4's are a great value for money honestly, when the review was made the H9's were double the price, notw it's just a 50 euro difference here and that makes the choice harder. @@Stelf101 who knows in that case, I guess it's up to that site and if the want to shift inventory or not. I’ve had my h95 for over a week now. I’m not very impressed. The quality of the craftsmanship is great but that doesn’t matter much if they sound quality doesn’t match up. I recall when I first put on my sony wh-1000xm3 they absolutely blew me away. When I first put on the h95 I had to force myself to justify the $800 price tag. Additionally the max volume is very low, the sound is crisp but not shockingly good as you’d expect at the price level.

i have a pair of h95 and h9 (first gen) here and i have to say: the h95 is way clearer, but the bass is NOT spectacular in any way regarding bass. Honestly when it comes to electronic music, I almost have more fun with the H9s. I will visit a Bang and Olufson store this week and compare my pair with other ones in case they are somewhat "broken". But i am very confused that the sound is so... underwhelming imo while everyone else praises them

I think what you're hearing is a more honest representation of the mixing and mastering of the music you play, they are so flat that they only play what honestly is called for which usually means that bass is less as most modern headphones have fair bass bump in the EQ to make music sound good and fun but this is not usually true to the recording. If you're into a more playful bassy sound, may I suggest you try out some Beoplay Portals at your dealer?! I love them personally and they are super comfortable to wear for a long time.

I think that i am going to pass. As tempting as you and everyone makes it sound. There is a reason that i gave up on wearing headphone Shure 846, H9i, still wear the airpod pro when outside. THought just hit me, i doubt that i will ever put the H95 case in my swimming bag. Anyway, There is reason that i spent a fortune replacing my not even a year old iPad Air with the latest iPad Pro. Made mistake to buy the Air forgetting how horrible mono speaker is. People should just get the iPad Pro with Atmos sound and screw wearing headphones at home. Even though i know that the chance is slim but i do hope that Apple Studio will have sound quality comparable to the H95. If their sound quality is on par, i am definitely getting the Studio instead. With it's Atmos surround and for sure other better features.

Especially when your aim is to ''contact'' B&O through the magic of YT comments, that just plain nuts and even more so when you already returned it.
