Thanks! Was originally inspired by an MJ Cole track but I can hear what you mean about the GC feel, definitely has an El-B sound to it.

What a track! Really sounds like back then. What's the secret behind those 90's oldschool garage drums? Sound sources? Or processing, like MPC style saturation, soft/hard clipping? Both :p?
@MrMikkiFunk2 жыл бұрын
A generous helping of swing, offbeat hats and swung/ off beat snares. Snappy drum samples that reinforce the syncopation of the drum pattern. A raw saturated sound can help but don't overdo it. The raw sound on this is mostly because I lost the project and only had a rough, badly mastered version, which the mastering engineer was able to make sound great (somehow). It helps of course to use drum samples synonymous with this era of garage too I guess. The really noticeable one here is the main snare/ rimshot, it was heard on a lot of Steve Gurley, MJ Cole and Groove Chronicles productions. Hope that helps!
