I did not know this piece but I thought it waas absolutely lovely. They were lovely together. At first I thought he was the better dancer, perfect but then I felt they were both equally good and it was utterly charming. Very well done and many thanks. Made my day! A big response from the audience too.

will miko ever join a company ?
@lalalaloey8 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. She had a 1 year contract with Birmingham Royal Ballet that ended in June of 2016, but nothing since then. Sometimes, competition dancers have trouble adjusting to company life because they are no longer the focus. All of a sudden they learn that it is no longer all about them, they have to focus on blending with the corps. I hope she will take care of whatever the problem is and begin dancing again. Such a waste!!

There is an interview with her in pointe magazine. She said she's gradually lost passion for dancing and decided it's not what she wants to do with her life. She likes teaching ballet, and she's also started premed.

I definitely didn't like the boy's variation nor coda. Don't know if it's the choreography that it's so changed, or himself...

The turning is great, but as a whole the dancing is unmusical. As she is very young, there is time for that to change, but it shouldn't be held up as an example to other young dancers.
@DocDLH9 жыл бұрын
Maybe it is the pairing as I see Miko was a Gold Medalist in Moscow in 2013.
@ellie56369 жыл бұрын
+Lindsay Fischer Please could you tell me, what do you mean when you say unmusical? Thanks!
@lindsayfischer30359 жыл бұрын
+anfalas If you look at the first two phrases in the variation, for example, she doesn't finish either of them with the music. The music is over, she is still moving. This is espcially a pity for the second step - there is a flourish in the music that ought to match up, step for note, with the pas de bouree at the end of each repetition of the step. When this is properly done, it shows the witty character of the dancer. Then in the coda, her big turning step, the series of pirouettes opening to croise devant - the leg should open on the beat. She begins like that, but can't sustain it. This is partly due to the fact that her leg is not in croise devant (it is far too open), but more due to the fact that she hasn't made a priority of it.
@ellie56369 жыл бұрын
***** Thank you, you have been most helpful. I am preparing for my own variation and I'm super nervous! I've always thought Miko was a close to perfection as is humanly possible ;)
@lindsayfischer30359 жыл бұрын
+anfalas Best of Luck! - In general, however much you admire another dancer (and there are certainly a great many things to admire about many, many dancers) you are most likely to succeed when you discover, and develop what you admire about yourself. This is not self-centered, or arrogant, but a necessary part of making what you have to give away to the audience valuable.
