Awesome video! I bet it really turned some heads, seeing a mig 23 coming down a road straight at them. Something not seen every day. Thank you for sharing. I never get this close to a mig to see it. Super cool!😊

that's really awesome. I had the pleasure of speaking with an Iraq mig23 pilot in 2008 on numerous occasions.

Super vid, those darn pesky Russians! Looks like you parked that MIG back close to my two F-4s from DS. I'll be able to check it out in a couple weeks when I'm back out to see my Phantoms again then! Sweet!

Rupert Harrison According to the museum sites, it comes from the highly classified Project Constant Peg in which testing foreign aircraft that might comes from allied countries especially the MS version is the export version of MIG-23. www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Museum-Exhibits/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/1162493/mikoyan-gurevich-mig-23ms-flogger-e/ Project Constant Peg (4477 th Test and Evaluation Squadron) en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/4477th_Test_and_Evaluation_Squadron Hopefully that helps

1/ There were more defectors than just Viktor Belenko....as the Soviet Union began to collapse...and economic situation of Russia became dire...and defecting didn't seem like a bad idea lol...especially from the Warsaw Pact nations...oh and Cuba 2/ Post collapse of the Soviet Union the Warsaw Pact was extinguished and Russia refused to supply parts to nations that had bought Mig's and Su's that were once part of the union and/or Eastern Bloc. The massive 'hard-currency' debt that these eastern bloc nations had accumulated + their reliance on western nation 'credit' meant they were ....hmm.... *Open to suggestions* ...lol 3/ Soviet arms trade and militarization of Egypt, Jordan etc and Israeli intelligence in the 1970s ---- worth researching if you want track how we *REALLY* got it. August 16th 1966 is an example... *NOT* MiG-23 but MiG-21...but stands as proof of how effective our allied intelligence pipeline was lets just say it didn't take long for us (US) to solve the mysteries of new Soviet aircraft during the cold-war

This one originated from Syria and acquired from Israel in the late 70s. A Syrian defector flew the aircraft to Israel and America later purchased it to analyze its qualities which turned out to be complete garbage

@@kevinyang5926 The first MiG-23 reached to the USA in 1982 when Egypt transferred six of its eight MiG-23MS (izdeliye 23MS) Flogger-E, which had been sitting in storage after the break with Moscow in 1976 due to unavailability of spares. This one is from Egypt, not Syria. A Syrian defector flew MiG-23MLA Flogger-G to Israel in 1989.

The Mig 23MS were Egytian ones. The BM and the ML were war trophies from the Irak war.

The worst MiG-23 variant ever made. MiG-21 Electronics (Stripped RWR, stripped IRST, No BVR capabilty, RP-22SM radar) and MiG-23M WVR performance. Beautiful aircraft though...
@zygmaj5 жыл бұрын
In my opinion 'S' (Flogger-A) variant was the worst.
@ricardosoto57704 жыл бұрын
That is the variant the Soviet Union sold to the Arabs to be used as cannon fodder again the israelis and iranians. No wonder why many nations choose to bypass the Mig 23 and buy more Mig 21bis instead. The Soviet Union kept the M version for themselves and the MF version to their Warsaw Pact satelite countries. Eventuall the Soviet Union listened to their Arab allies and sold the ML version.
