I think the reason SanuDa and RahmanJi couldn't work together was merely the coincidence of the clashing of their stardom periods. SanuDa became a star with Aashiqui (1990) and Roja (1992) songs were being recorded when SanuDa was at his busiest. It wouldn't be possible for him to leave Mumbai with so many projects lined up, that's why ARR went ahead with other singers - and became a superstar after the release of the movie. There was no looking back for ARR, and that happens. While there is a chance that ARR might have been adamant about not working with SanuDa in the coming years, and ARR literally ruled the entire Indian music scene for almost two decades even as SanuDa's songs reduced by mid-2000's. ARR has received his own share of international recognition, which is unprecedented, but the love and respect for SanuDa has also grown in this period nonetheless. Both are legends, and I hope they work on a project together soon!

Kumar sanu was the first choice of Rahman for roza's songs, but rahman used to do night recordings at chennai and kumar sanu due to his busy schedule in 90s preferred only day time recordings that too at Mumbai. So due to this issue, we missed sanu da's voice in roza songs And due to this issue only saanu didn't work more with rahman, I think this mil gaye mil gaye song is the only one

Yes...Alka ji also said about this in an interview... When Rehman's secretary called them and asked them to come to Madras for recording they said they were fully booked with recordings in Mumbai...But Alka ji and Sanu da also said to Rehman's secretary that we can sing if there is any possibility for the recording to be done in Mumbai... No. Rahman is not a vindictive guy. When Rahman was new, the Music labels wanted known singers like Sanu, Alka for his dubbed Hindi songs. Once he became a hit, Rahman chose the singers. Even Alka did not sing Roja songs, but Rahman used her in many films starting from Lagaan. Rahman was a new sound in 90s whereas Sanu's was a copy Of Kishore kumar, a sound of the previous 25 years. Rahman probably feared that his songs won't sound unique with Sanu. Udit, Sonu, Hariharan, Sukhwinder, Javed Ali and Mohit Chauhan were all somewhat original and did not copy either Kishore or Rafi and they were Rahman's preferred singers for this reason.
