The F35 takes a lot of crap because of its price and Advanced Tech Emphasis but as each day progresses it becomes ever more apparent the F35 is Easily the winner in the Battle Field 9.9 out of 10 times.

The worst thing is micro-doppler effect from fast moving parts like compressor face... And thats not an issue for F35. So it comes up on top in every scenario when compared with legacy fighters.

Just noticed that these Norwegian F-35's have some type of pod affixed on the top rear of the fuselage. I've never seen this before on any other F-35's, would anyone out there happen to know what they are?

@@Gsmooth10455 yeah, the chute makes it easier to land in slippery icy climate. Other countries are looking to have them on their F35s and I assume Finland might want to have them when they get their F35s as well.

@@phillipbanes5484 Wrong, the Norwegian jets have this configuration because of slippery tarmacs during winters. But Finland might indeed use the same system to be able to conduct road landings.

The chute was put on the F-16 first, now on the F-35 mainly because of the extensive network of civilian airports with short runways that would be utilized in a conflict.

F-35A target was $25000 per hour, so $31000 per hour ain't that bad. Far more important is to get Block 4 and FOC. Then we want F-35A availability closer to target. Flight hour cost is lower priority than that, for maritime patrols and policing we have fleet of Poseidon and looks like we will select MQ-9 Reaper or MQ-9B SeaGuardian as long range drone. P-8A Poseidon $1050 per hour MQ-9 Reaper $3500 per hour MQ-9B SeaGuardian $5000 per hour Other 4th gen fighters not relevant, we picked F-35 in 2008 and phased out F-16 in 2022.
