I just quit from my subway 2 days ago and here was my experience: It’s definitely not for everyone. Sure making sandwiches are kind of fun, but if you’re introverted/ don’t like social interactions then you’ll loose patience very quickly. Like me, I would always want to stay in the back chopping veggies, preparing cheese, meats and the sort. (Btw every subway is different and when milad opens a bag of pepperoni for instance, I had to take the time to separate them into 6 and stack them neatly which could take a couple minutes same with salami) the starting pay for me was 8/hr and just this last week right before I quit, the raised it to 10/hr. I did work at a gas station subway so this might be the reason, or just like I said earlier, no 2 subways or any other restaurant are alike. Some are better, some are worse. Mine was particularly better with pay, but terrible with customers and some management.

I think most importantly remember that it is a real job, yeah it looks really good and pretty fun in these videos, but at the end of the day, you’re looking at a 2 minute clip. One more thing to know before working a customer-facing food service job: on the job, you can learn to be quicker, but you can't learn to be friendly. If you're good with people, the speed and skill will follow with time as you work. If you're rude but lightning at sandwich-making, working at Subway will not make you less rude. That's a thing you're gonna have to work on on your own time, and your boss will probably hate you for driving away customers and arguing with coworkers. If you are that kind of person who doesn't get along with other people, you may want to consider working somewhere where that won't be an issue, and you also probably want to consider counseling to work on that, since humans are supposed to be social.

@@sadlife8495 I wouldn't worry about the greetings. Just say the same greeting every time, but then spice it up with banter while you make their food, if you're not in the middle of the lunch rush. When I used to work at a similar job, I had a rotating list of jokes I would tell based on the ingredients they'd ask for. My coworkers hated hearing the same jokes all the time, but it was a surefire way to make 90% of guests laugh. I would also ask about their day and go from there, of course. Really I credit that job with greatly helping to hone my social skills. It was like speed dating with zero stakes.

Milad, before, I usually go to subway with my friends, but I've never order a subway sandwich before, usually my friends will order for me or I would just say "I'm not hungry" but in reality I never knew how to make an order at subway. Idk if it was social anxiety or the fact that I didn't know how to order especially with the menu confusing me and what purpose it held if it was a "build-your-own-sandwich" ordeal but as I watch more of your videos I finally got a grasp of how to order sandwich and what to get, so thanks for somewhat helping me with the POV and stories at subway, I know this seems like its a big deal over nothing, but you don't know how many times it pains me to sit in a subway with my friends while not knowing how to order at a subway 😂😂

I recently just quit my job at Subway. I worked there for a little more than a year and the beginning was an easy and great job that I liked it more. However, a few months later, we became short-staffed. One time I was left alone to do everything that I closed two hours than I was supposed to, and later I was closing earlier than that and working by myself in the afternoon. It was such a struggle and I had to do everything by myself when I was scheduled alone quite often on my job for night shift. The worst and most stressful moments were when there would be long lines of customers and online orders that I would have to do all by myself and that would frequently last from 1-2 hours with nonstop hard work. It was exhausting no matter how much I chose to stay at the job. And since the start of 2022, I kept begging my boss to schedule me for morning shifts, because I never worked any in 2021, mostly due to early morning cross country conditioning during the summer. Even after my season ended and I stopped running and doing sports, he never did schedule me for those times even though he said he would do it soon, claiming that we need more afternoon and night shift workers, which was true, but what was unfair for me with the newer workers was that my boss scheduled them to work morning shifts. Eventually, I couldn’t wait any longer and decided that although I will sorta miss being around and working at Subway, it was time for me to go and leave the job and move on rather than wasting my time waiting for one thing that will unlikely happen.

I started working 4 weeks ago so I'm a newbie, and man I hope that doesn't happen to me.. so far I'm fairly happy with the job knowing I have coworkers to help me despite the very busy location. When I did night shifts, there was at least 1-2 other people with me. But I can imagine the torture of having to do it all alone

@rayanzaidi2793 I'm great! My boss can be a bit strict, but I really like my coworkers. We had a Christmas party a week or two ago, so it was a good time.

That’s good. And fun, since we didn’t have anything in Christmas 2022, except a couple coworkers helped make stockings with all of the worker’s names.
