MILCHO LEVIEV & CHARLIE HADEN DUET, 1983 AT THE COMEBACK INN JOHN J. HUNT 2024
Milcho Leviev and Charlie Haden had never played together until this night. These two Jazz giants finally met up on the stage of the Comeback Inn one Saturday evening in June of 1983.
I had known both of them for a couple of years and was there to record the evening.
The compact Comeback Inn was packed that night and they played two sets. This record is of the first 3 tunes of the first set.
Unfortunately, both of these players have passed away, so this record is more poignant, especially for me, 41 years later; but it is also a fulfillment of a pledge I made to Milcho that I would one day produce a video album of his performances, and this is one piece of that album.
As far as the video goes, it was recorded on 3/4-inch with a Sony Nuvicon camera, and, it was done in one continuous take of more than 26 minutes.

Just sitting at home thinking of Charlie and decided to search him up and I found this. What an excellent document of his playing at the height of his powers. Acoustic, up close. Invaluable for bassists, musicians and listeners. Many thanks.
