@@MasonWright1234 I know. I live in Canyon Lake. I was naming the locales that make up the built up area. New Braunfels is very much a separate city in feeling.

I use to LOVE my commute from Killeen to Cedar Park. And I would just go driving on 35 on my days off intentionally and my friends there thought I was crazy lmao!

I find it interesting that Austin has many miles of toll roads but San Antonio has none.

My guess is that's because San Antonio has 3 different interstates meeting, so "free" connectivity is desired

@@frank-qf9pm San Antonio planned ahead with it's highway system. Austin got caught standing flat footed when the boom started in the late 80's. So they had to go the toll road route to be able to try and catch up with the traffic demand. And they're still behind

There's always so much traffic from Austin to San Antonio. Dread driving on IH35 going South. My hometown is southwest of SA. Safe driving.

@@Markkos1992 410 is a loop but not a state highway loop. Its a US interstate loop.

@@Markkos1992 locals usually never said i410 here, they say loop 410 or loop 1604 (the outer, state highway loop). oddly enough they do say i10 or i35. 410 is just a strange occurrence of locals not saying it

I walked this route once. It took 3 days, walking 10 hours per day.

There's really no way to understand a highway until you walk it I feel. You can see and feel in intricate detail how the highway was designed and how crappy it may be to walk sometimes. Did you walk the freeway portion or Frontage road mostly?

I grew up in Austin in the 80's. I remember when this was two lanes on each side and Interstate 35 was signed with U.S. 81. I miss the U.S. 81 signage but understand it was completely redundant.

This is my "home" Interstate. I grew up in Round Rock. When I was a kid in the 80's this was multiplexed with U.S. 81 with Business 81 on the old road through town. In Round Rock I remember they changed it to Business 35 and then took it away. For a brief moment it was Mays St in Round Rock was singed "Loop 384"....I live in Florida now and it's interesting to see how unique Texas Interstate highways are compared to the rest of the country.

In the city I work in Kyle.. we have 4-5 miles of "old hwy 81".. not sure if this was the old route of US 81 or Business US 81.. though the southern portion (1.5-2 miles) is signed Business I-35

What’s worst? I-4 from Tampa to Orlando? Or I-35 from San Antonio to Austin? Because both corridor connect 2 close major metropolitan areas together.

Definitely i 4 35 between Austin and san antonio isn't bad except during rush hour

Interstate 4 is busier due to tourist traffic. Interstate 35 is only heavy at either end at rush hour.

5:50 Hays County or as my autocorrect likes to call it.. Hats County 12:00 since filming there has been like 12 different fast food style restaurants and a Costco added to the Home Depot plaza.. a year from now it will probably be unrecognizable 17:30 likely future home of the favorite Texas tourist trap known as Bucees (sometime in 2025)
