My family and I traveled through interstate 270 coming out of the Capitol beltway (I-495) from Virginia back in December 2017 while leaving from Florida. We also traversed through Gettysburg PA as well. Great drive

An older highway; originally US 240, the Washington National Pike, which was then also designated I-70S to where it ended at Rockville Pike. The spur continued as I-70S to the Beltway; I-270 was the left side of the split, going to Rockville, where it became the earliest part of I-495, ending at Connecticut Ave. But not for long. Interesting drive.

Ahh...I live just outside Frederick and drive 270 fairly often. That section near Urbana down to Clarksburg is always annoying - between being undercapacity, to those curves with cars and trucks being slow at times...

Not surprised at the slow down once you entered Bethesda. 270 can be unpredictable. What time of day do you tend to drive these routes? Great (and helpful) videos!

now we're talking! used to live in Germantown and work in Potomac 30+ years ago. live in VA now, but travel I270 all the time to visit the inlaws in Gettysburg. The Sheetz in Frederick is always a stop along the way.

I haven't been there in years, but it looks about the same as I remember it. The last time I was there was going northbound in 2016. Not sure of the last time I was there going south.

This is the t you pical route from Interstate 70 and points west - in my case, Charles Town Races and Slots or Thurmont - my two trips on Interstate 270 from north to south. North of Germantown and the Department of Energy (and the National Institute of Standards and Technology- which shAre the same exit off I-270) it is pretty - and largely unchanged since it was Interstate 70S. South of there, it takes on a SoCal vibe all the way to the Y where the highway divides.
