Cool video capturing part of the core of Oklahoma City and some of its major interchanges. I-235/I-35 recently had a major rebuild, I-35/I-44 is also in the midst of its own rebuild. I-35/I-240 is also now getting back on schedule after a delay of several years for lack of funding (which is available now). I-44/I-40 will also be getting a rebuild, although that is not likely anytime soon (but needs it for sure).

The short lines you see in sets of three in the concrete pavement are called dowel bar retrofits. They prevent the concrete from buckling at the seems and make the road more smooth

Thanks for the info. I noticed them on lots of the Oklahoma roads and was wondering what they were for.

This is a great channel! Just discovered it! Having grown up a military brat and my family always moving a traveling by car, the interstates and highways carry some real personal meanings for me sometimes and can strike up some strong emotions and old memories. Thank you for helping me relive some of those today! I also appreciate your commentary videos! I will definitely be looking forward to your upcoming videos! Also, a side note, my bachelors degree is in Geography and my wife is a Civil Engineer (transportation) and I really appreciate seeing a channel produced by an engineer and geographer as well!

Thanks. You guys must have some interesting conversations with those educational backgrounds coming together. I actually considered Geography as a major right after high school but didn't do it in fear of not being able to make money.

minimum speed signs are only found on urban freeways nowadays, otherwise they're only posted statewide on turnpikes. only now the minimum has been raised from 50 to 60 as of 2020 for the most part. gone are the minimum speed 40 signs on rural interstates as 75 mph speed limits started being posted on freeways as well in 2020. before then 75 was only limited to turnpikes.
@frank-qf9pm Жыл бұрын
24:45 I did not know Interstate 44 has an 80 mph posted speed limit outside the city. Maybe because it's a tolled highway at that point. Thank you for the ride.

HE Bailey as of summer 2022 is cashless, as will Turner and Will Rogers Turnpikes by early 2025.

The state legislature approved bills a few years ago that allowed the increase from 75-80mph speeds on safe portions of toll roads and from 70-75mph on interstate freeways. (Outside the metro areas)
