Thanks Mike! “Old Florida” right there! FL SR17 is a fun, lazy drive south of I-4, as it connects so many established Florida cities: Davenport, Haines City, Dundee, Lake Wales, Frostproof, (this vid) Avon Park, and Sebring. US-27 runs West of all these town, then they all expanded and annexed all the land around 27, and now that road is “death by traffic light”. Not a lot of fun to drive like it was 30 years ago.

I see. There's definitely a ton of lights. I guess that's for the better as if it were a freeway it might take traffic from people using it to avoid the turnpike.

Wewahitchka at the Florida Panhandle would be a cool place, the home of Tupelo Honey and the Dead Lakes.

Enjoy Scenic Hwy aka FL SR17. You should check out Lake Placid, known as the "Town of Murals" where many of the old buildings in the downtown area have murals painted on them. Dr. Dewey (the Dewey Decimal Systems guy) visited the town and suggested the town folks to change the name from Lake Stearns to Lake Placid. The towns that you travelled through that have hilly terrain. That is the Lake Wales Ridge, which runs about 100 miles.

So this town is old & doesn’t look to have any updated shopping malls or newer stores? Thanks
