Thanks for the comment Idog. I have never seen a real scientific statistic relating to phosphate removal vs nitrate removal. All I have ever seen is anecdotal evidence that basically states that biopellets remove nitrates and to a lesser extent phosphates. In my tank phosphates are currently undetectable. I'll continue to monitor the situation and if I find myself running biopellets and having a phosphate issue we will know biopellets alone are not enough.

Great video as described the brs reactor in detail. See some stagnant biopellets at bottom-left hasn't been an issue? Thanks again

Did you notice any leaks a few months after the installation? This video was made 8 years ago. Hopefully it worked out for you. I'm going to try and do exactly what you did and buy the brs reactor and fill it 1/4 for my 65 gallon. Do you like the quality of the brs reactor years later? Is it still running and working for you now?

what is the capacity of the pump used?

I think I may get one. I wonder if I should get the dual reactor...one carbon and one bio pellets...one pump.

+ROTTER tube Reef Use separate reactors the GFO doesn't need a very big pump but the biopellets will need a good sized pump. Also don't buy one with a sponge filter in it they just clog and stop the tumbling. Check out my DIY reactor. Your going to love biopellets Steve.

that makes sense. i'll check out the DIY you did but may spring for a reef octopus. problem is i can't fit anything else in my sump with that marine pure block. room for that and protein skimmer and that's it.

WOW! You were so young! I have never seen one of your older videos! Did you have you son yet? You look to young to even be a dad!I This video is so informative, no one has shown the hoo up and installation. I have no room in sump and most are in sump as well. Do all these parts come with it? I have some type of media reactor with sponges that came wit tank with tubing coming out both side like this. I wonder if I can use that, its like a gfo reactor would you know? I have a tube with a ball valve in the middle with 2 short pieces of tube that came with used tank, if this dosnt come with that. Also Would you recommend soaking in microbacter 7. I am using nopox now so need to lower a little still but mostly maintain. my phosphates are very close to zero so maybe that is why its taking a while being I was using gfo b4. Also, how do you know when its used up? does it just disintegrate? Thanks for any help! Love your channel! Big fan!

Biopletts Remote nitrates and for every 1000 nitrate you Remote 1 phosphate. Gfo suck out phosphate and binds it to the ferroxside. So biopellet alone is not able to lower the phosphate and silicates alone to desired level

The waste product you are referring to is the bacteria.

good video BUT. I would ONLY use a older 1200 pump because of the new ones with the purple impeller is so FLIPPING NOISY it keeps the neighbors awake!! when used as a simple mixing pump or not having to create ANY PRESSURE it is ok, other than that it's ok. you will thank me if you ask others. I am IN NO WAY saying BULK REEF SUPPLY is a bad company it is totally opposite it's a wonderful company to deal with!!! this is about the pump only!!!
