Miles Davis - Summertime (with Quincy Jones & Orchestra Live At Montreux 1991) ~ 1080p HD
This concert from 8 July 1991 was the last of Miles Davis' many appearances at the Montreux Jazz Festival and took place only a few months before his death. Despite a defiant "never look back" philosophy, Miles was persuaded by Quincy Jones and Claude Nobs to take part in this tribute to his great friend Gil Evans, who had passed away in 1988. This truly unique concert was an historical event and a musical triumph, thankfully captured here for posterity. Miles Davis was a giant of 20th century music and this concert is as much a tribute to him as it is to the late Gil Evans.

'Miles Davis was arguably the most influential jazz musician in the post-World War II period, being at the forefront of changes in the genre for more than 40 years. Born into a middle-class family, Davis started on the trumpet at age 13.' Source: National Endowment for the Arts

Kenny Garrett is the name of the alto sax player. His solo follows Miles' intensity nicely. I looked up his name. I didn't know it. :-)

First time I heard Kenny was when he worked with Freddie Hubbard and Woody Shaw on their "Double Take" album with Carl Allen, Cecil McBee and the late Mulgrew Miller.

You know if someone was to run this video through topaz labs video software and deinterlace it the errors and downfalls in fast movement due to the limitations of this early digital video system would be fixed.

There arent any deinterlacing errors in this video though??? The only "error" is the ghosting of highlights caused by the analogue (ish) format, which IMO actually looks pretty good.
