Tutu is an album by American jazz trumpeter Miles Davis, released in 1986 by Warner Bros. Records. It was recorded primarily at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Clinton Recording in New York, except the song "Backyard Ritual", which was recorded at Le Gonks in West Hollywood. Davis received the 1986 Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Soloist Grammy Award for his performance on the album.

Superb album... this and Amandla are my favourite late era Miles LP's. Carlos (Santana) said it best, "He (Miles) is as important as Michelangelo, Stravinsky or Picasso" One thing is certain no one will ever eclipse his body of work in Jazz. He re-invented it and then kept refining it throughout his decades long career. A true Dark Magus!

As someone currently making their way through Miles' body of work for the first time, I gotta say, this is probably the best way to listen to Tutu. I'm usually not a fan of casette stuff, but damn, the audio balancing feels so much better here than in most uploads I've seen, the synths feel like they gel much better with everything else. Thank you for your work.

I listened to that sound of the tape and the music of this album when I was a child and I did not imagine that it would accompany me throughout my life and will continue to do so. Thanks for upload this.

Same here. My dad played it loud when he was cleaning or cooking. This is music is a part of me and feels like home. I became a professional trumpet player myself, Miles is always in my heart! Thanks dad, rest jn peace.

It s the best Album,but a tribute to Jack Johnson,in a silent way,esp,we want Miles,porgy and bess,bitches brew are the best albums that my mother and father played on record when i was a child between one and six years old,i would have wished a cassette tutu and the man with the horn,but i can t have everything,i m glad that i hear them on KZbin,since my cold it makes me beeing a good mood

Recorded in early 1986 and released in October, Tutu was an album that had time on its side. It benefited from catchy, funk beats that sounded up-to-date yet avoided cliché. The various tracks could be upbeat and playful, yet Miles trumpet statements kept it grounded with a marked sense of purpose. The album had social relevance as well, with song titles-“Tutu,” “Full Nelson”-taken from the headlines of the day, referencing South African archbishop Desmond Tutu and anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela. 10:00 Source: Miles Davis Official Site
