Kelly Hu is absolutely perfect as Li Mei. She previously played D’Vorah in the last 2 games, but she is shining far brighter as Li Mei. Plus as a bonus she is a martial artist in real life! And the character herself is now one of my favorites, she has such a strong moral compass and no matter what others think of her she has undying loyalty to Sindel and the royal family.

King Jarrod starts off as but a memory, still dead it's her fault not even Liu Kang could fix it. She has some stipes to bare, her sole responsibility is the protection of the royal family two strikes so far, the third is the death of the empress. It's justified her sisters lost position to Shao Kahn, and the Empress lost her husband and the daughters lost their father, Jarrod is dead and trapped in Ermac. This is a true dereliction of duty.

I feel so bad for Li Mei in this game! It seems like every single time anyone from Outworld sees her they either ignore her outright or rebuke her while reminding her that she let Jerrod die. I don't know exactly how long it's been since Jarrod died, but it's mentioned that Sindel's reign has been a thousand years. If her reign started when Jerrod died, that means Li Mei's been getting put down and reminded that she let him die every day FOR A 1000 YEARS! And she continued to serve loyally despite all that! Li Mei is the true MVP of MK1.

In a Gameplay Point of View Li Mei if Awesome as she felt like a Female Liu Kang with her own Firework and Chinese Dragon Spin, in the Story she was Solidly Good, I like Kelly Hu in this Role better than D’Vorah but something felt Missing and I don’t know what l, I like it although either is the Passing or the Dialogue, I think Li Mei needed more time to Explore, this might be the most Underrated Chapter in MK1.

Honest question about Li Mei's gameplay, was her lantern special nerfed after the beta? I watch Super's playthrough of the story mode and he said that her long 3 lantern combo was nerfed by making the 3rd lantern blow the opponent away than pop them back up. He tried it a few times to confirm it but he managed to get it 3 times away from the corner but by the corner the 2nd lantern ended the combo. Was that like a small bug or did they really change how her lanterns work since then?
