Max having to explain his reaction is telling of how sad the internet has become now. Trying to tear down or criticize Max for being genuinely excited and happy for something he clearly is passionate for out of suspicion of "shilling" or "faking a reaction because he already knew this was coming" is sad. I get that reaction videos have become a super common thing where people ham it up for views, but Max loves what he loves. And as explained in this video, it's been YEARS of build up that resulted in this monumental event. It's truly special.
@LatinGiudo8173 ай бұрын
Still enjoyed Max's reaction to the announcement over the "Wednesday Addams" streamers that "reacted" to the Twitter version. His reaction was more relatable cause that was how I reacted to seeing my teenhood dream of finally owning the games I played on the arcade version of those in my local video rental store come true. I actually teared up seeing Marvel vs. Street Fighter cause I had more fond memories of that game than the rest of the games in that collection.

I found out about MvC Collection when the trailer appeared on my KZbin list which was half a day after it was announced. I played all Vs. Series in the arcades back in the day and consider myself a very casual player at best of fighting games. My jaw dropped when I saw the trailer. I can only imagine how the people who live and breath fighting games were feeling. Max’s freak-out is totally understandable.

The people saying he overreacted weren't either Fighting game fans, nor knew Max at all, they were just random people in forums who heard of the reaction because it happened in a Nintendo Direct.
@TheDownrankTrain2 ай бұрын
This brings a whole series of classic fighting games into current-gen console hardware. The FGC for these games is going to see a huge number of new players, and almost certainly a massive increase in popularity for the tournament scene for these games. that alone would be enough reason to get exited, but the fact that this could potentially lead to the revival of the entire series adds a whole other level.

I was a heavy Marvel reader circa 1991 to 1995, and I didn't realize at the time that the arc I was on was apparently extremely common. X-Men felt fresh from Claremont and Lee's issue 1, and eventually post the Image exodus all of the creativity seemed to have flowed out of the company besides Andy Kubert, John Romita Jr., and Ron Lim. Seeing COTA in arcades in 1994 seemed like a gift, especially since it called back to a version of the property that was already fading.
@LucLightWolf1213 ай бұрын
That's why Children Of The Atom is my favorite arcade game of the 1990's. I loved the Chris Claremont/Jim Lee run of X-MEN, and I stayed an active reader of the X-MEN Universe until 2003. I miss the early 1990's in Marvel Comics. That was fun times.

Max, there’s no need to explain your passion for MVC. Watching your stream live when they announced was legitimately how I felt and honestly man. Your love and influence across the MVC community made me and I hope several others too immediately thought what your reaction would be in fact I actually hopped on twitch to watch your live stream as soon as the Direct was over because honestly I was nail bitting MP4B but to say the MVC collection didn’t make me go through roof is a major understatement. I was literally in the process of buy a 360 solely for one reason only mainly because I genuinely still have MVC 2 and Origins when they were available (even the MK arcade collections haha) and before the 360 shop closes up haha but the fact I was going to go out of my way to get a 360 again just for MVC alone goes to shows how MVC is not just the game for gamers, but for the whole world. Thank you Max for still being the leading spear and I honestly hope Capcom or even Marvel give you a nod for showing that MVC is still here and kicking ass!

I feel that its also a case of marvel (disney mostly) understanding that MCU isnt how you make marvel vs capcom. Its the idea of how these characters interact and just to see all those popular names go at it. When i saw the direct i literally said "Theres no shot that marvel 2 is there!" and it happened. . .a whole collection of games i DESPERATELY wanted to enjoy after seeing just how fun they looked. Seeing everyone blow up about it shows Marvel AND Capcom that they made the right choice in going back to this because people want to see their characters and want new players and even their kids by now to experience what they loved back when THEY themselves were children.

I absolutely love the enthusiasm and joy that this brought to Max and the FGC, I absolutely would NEVER try to take that away by being a jaded, disaffected prick, but from a casual standpoint: all I know about MvC2 is: it's the game with a 56 character roster with 4 or 5 viable online ones. So I also get the puzzlement as, to me, it always seemed like a "solved" fighting game. Absolutely happy to be educated on that, though, I'll almost certainly be picking this up anyway just for the sheer volume of content.
@ruggedlemmings91633 ай бұрын
MvC2 will always hold a special spot in my memory even though I'm not huge into fighting games (I'm the definition of a casual, as Woolie would put it I like to pick up the controller, pick a character that looks cool to me, and hit some buttons). I went to high school with - and was good friends with - Nick Plott, aka Tasteless (big name in the StarCraft community). The dude's just a natural born gamer, the type of person that can pick up a game they've never touched and within a week they can tell you all about the ins and outs of it and have it mastered completely. So he's over at my house one weekend and I introduce him to MvC2 on my Dreamcast. With this being one of my favorite games at the time while it was his first time playing it, I absolutely trounced him. Still, he really enjoyed the game. That was the only time I ever beat him. The next time we met up and played he was already a master and could beat any team I threw at him. It blew my mind as much as my mind was blown the first time I watched him play StarCraft and he was micromanaging two large armies, his base, and all expansions seemingly all at the same time.

Some people get their fun out of being always being unimpressed, playing devils advocate, downplay, and pretending not to understand interests. Nobody’s that stupid. I'm not even counting Metroid, because everybody knew that was coming, nobody just knew when it would be announced. But it was for Mario and Luigi RPG fans, who literally thought that was dead due to the death of a company, known to make it. And for those of us who played and loved Phantom Brave, back in the day, it was long past the thought of being dead and buried. You could ask any of us a decade ago, and we would've whole-heartedly thought it was a one and done type of affair. the thing with comics is that people incorrectly assumed their worth and not understanding that like all collectibles, that worth is based on supply and demand. when something has high demand but low supply, the price sky rockets, but when they supply increases, the price plummets. Old comics are worth what they are because people covet certain issues and theres not a lot of those old issues in circulation, so they go for a kings ransom. Meaning if you are printing 10 million copies of a comic with 20 different variant covers, its not going to have the same value as an Action Comics #1. the entire boom was built on unreasonable expectations and the crash, like Thanos, was inevitable.
@Fishman4653 ай бұрын
I feel part of the problem was they kept on ending and starting runs to inflate the variety of no1 issues, but a no1 issue has no value If the run has little note or introduced no big current characters. Action comics no1 is worth a ton because first appearance of Superman one of the biggest superheroes ever.

Video game franchises are some of the biggest up and down roller coasters I have ever been a part of. You can wait 10 to 20 years on a franchise, go through all the stages of grief thinking that the series you knew and loved is gone, and then one day out of no where without warning it returns. The sheer emotional rush of seeing a game or series return that you thought you would never see again is incredible. You don't really get the same experience with things like movies or books, and everytime one of these big announcements happen I always go back and watch other people react to them because it is so nice knowing I wasn't the only person who jumped for joy at seeing Mario and Luigi getting a new game, or immediately jumped to steam to wishlist the MVC collection.

On the one hand I didn't think Max really needed to defend his reaction. On the other hand, this is a very good brief history of MvC as a whole, and adds to the significance of the collection's announcement

Why would anyone criticize Max's reaction? What the shit is wrong with people?!😂

Ok, now let's get that Street Fighter 3rd strike collection campaign going.

so i take it from this that people saw someone with a genuine over the moon happy reaction to something and got mad about it cause they think that no one could be that happy about anything man fuck the internet sometimes dude

Dude that announcement was so HYPE!!! You’re not the only one who got excited! People suck so don’t let it bring you down! Can’t wait to have the collection!

No need to justify...I loved your reaction and I had no idea what was going on. Seeing anyone passionate about anything is a good thing.

I don’t get why people think big reactions are “controversial”. Why shouldn’t we be happy and excited for things? Especially in a situation like this? Nah, I enjoyed watching Max’s reaction more than the actual announcement. Smiles and hype are priceless!

I actually already have this collection on my arcade 1UP setup but the fact this is coming back to modern consoles nearly everywhere really makes me happy!

4 weeks later: SvC is back as well, it's Chaos, but it's better than nothing. Capcom crossovers are coming back...

Honestly, phrasing it like "a loved one who pased away and then came back to life" is perfect. I completely understood because I had a similar case with Mario & Luigi earlier in the direct with a game series that had no hope of returning was suddenly alive and happening, so I understood (along with having my own hype of MvC's return).

This might be the coolest inside old School fighting game viewpoint I've ever heard....an incredible privilege to be able to see this about the clash and resolution of Marvel vs Capcom! I may only get to see something like this...once a Decade at most but its worth it

Man devotes literal years to something, rallying people from all over to the cause. All signs show that his efforts will be for naught due to powers beyond his control. He is on the verge of giving up, when FINALLY the stars align and results come through in the biggest way he could have imagined. And some assholes who have never in their lives cared to interact with him decide it's their assignment from God to give the man flak for being happy that his work finally paid off. This is the state of the Internet. This is the actual state of some people on the Internet.

Seriously, how in blazes did CAPCOM persuade Disney to rerelease this?

They're just videogames. No reason for them not to

Money happened.

They didn't have to, they just had to be patient and wait for Disney to ruin the MCU. Disney isn't making the money off of Marvel like they once were, and so now, it's time for the video game scene to come bail them out.
@zhaoyun2553 ай бұрын
I'm guessing that it was Disney came back to beg Capcom because MCU ain't doing so hot right now+Disney loosing so much money on their recent Box Office disaster aside from Inside Out 2.
@AirLancer3 ай бұрын
Because Disney isn't doing their best to bury the X-Men anymore (and the Fantastic Four I guess, but that already did a fine job burying itself).

As someone who vaguely knew about the demand for MvC stuff (plus the funny "Take Me For A Ride"), and knew you as The Fighting Game Guy™... I thought your reaction was very hype and extremely cute~

The passion this man has for this series was so great that it made a legend come back to life, I hope that if there is a MVC4 that Marvel and Capcom both invite him to test the game out early and put something in the game for his efforts, i could see a stage with Max in the background with a bunch of other legends cheering on the fight with billboard referencing FreeMVC2. If Marvel and Capcom dont do it i hope someone makes a mod stage of that idea for the Steam version of the game.

Knowing everything behind Max' reaction, seeing it live, made me more happy than most things in my own life, when I get happy. I've got lots of things that bring me joy but I haven't lost anything which was never coming back, ever. Max receiving what he's been wanting for so long made my eyes tear up. He's the most genuine person I "know" online and seeing him happy makes me happy.
