i have been watching SEO videos for some time, and for the most part, the exercise has been useless. you get a keyword, and what now? I think this is the only video I've seen that helps to give clarity. I would love to hear more on the keyword. this is the first one I've seen to show that the keyword can be part of a larger sentence and this seems so so basic, Good for you Miles!! Hi Miles, I remember you saying that to have better chances to outrank another website in Google, you have to create better quality content or same quality but bigger posts like 3000 words. I'm in the weight loss niche, and I tend to see more engagement on smaller, less dense post like 1000. I feel like people get demotivated pretty easily and when they see a 3k post, they don't read it through and quit. But I also want to rank on Google... Should I mix 3k and 1k blog posts, stick to 3k or go with the engagement (1k)? Thanks again for all the content you give. You are my #1 reference in SEO!

Reseller means you get access to 'WHM' instead of just a cpanel account and you can create multiple cpanel accounts... SO you can create multiple separate hosting accounts.... Super easy, search for videos on WHM (Web Hosting Manager) and I guarantee others have filled that void quite well.

One question is and this probably applies to any niche is that... like you said your not in this niche and you don't have a dog. How do you write a zero to hero story in your intro if you have no experience raising a dog? Do you just look for one on the internet and tell other people's story? Hey Miles, Do you do any offpage SEO at all? If you don't, can google actually pickup your website if you don't have a single backlink and start ranking it? If yes, how much time would it take for a fresh blog to start ranking with zero offpage SEO?

Not really... A tiny bit with Quora, KZbin and Twitter but very haphazard and not consistent. This is enough to get Google to your site, and Google will index you and look for your sitemap... Once they find that you are good to get index'd. You can add your site to Google.com/webmasters too. How long depends on the niche, the quality of content and how optimized you are and how difficult the keywords are. I could rank a site overnight for some random keywords that have zero competition with no backlinks... But in this SEO niche it is a lot harder because of all the competition.

As long as it needs to be in order to truly cover the topic... You can look at the top 3 or top 5 posts currently ranking, see how long they are and then just outwork them.

Ya... I ignore most of Yoasts recommendations... And he can lead you to overoptimize content if you follow all his 'rules'. I'm working with another SEO team who has run tests to prove many of Yoasts metrics are not actually important for Google. Good call on a video... I wanted to know why, if you’ve created amazing content at the top of the post explaining the area and subtopics, you wouldn’t then have a list of the best brands underneath - even if it was just a quick overview which linked out to longer reviews on other parts of your site? For me, since I lived in the 'struggling to make money online' world for 10 years and have had 5 years of success since then, I just visualize myself back in the day... "What was I missing/doing wrong" is the big question I ask myself. Then I answer in a video, then I do keyword research... (usually) Sometimes I have an idea and go straight to the keyword research tool. I'm more focused on helping you get a result than feeding the search engines at this point, but i do go back and forth.

Miles, when publishing 100 written blog posts I know you mentioned the 80/20 rule around 80 posts being straight ranked “Top” posts ( best, runner up, economy, sub categories etc.). You mentioned 20% bring shareable , pure relevant information content (not ranked review posts). Would you use this format for Top Review posts? I’m using the categories as H2 headings on my review posts…..I.e “best vegan dog food on a budget” just to give an example relevant to this post. Does this video apply to all posts or just posts that aren’t ranking products?

Depends on the length of the post but in general, you probably will have multiple h2's. Remember, they are like the supporting points for your main topic. How many supporting points do you have? It depends..

Could you also create a seperate post with that as the main keyword, reviewing dog treats you can purchase with affiliate links to the product. I know you could add the word reviews, to the other post, but I'm just using this as an example of what to do or not do. Thank you.

At this point, would research involve buying and testing the various products? In some niches this could get very expensive. How vital is first-hand experience of niche products?

I do believe that the more hands-on you get with products the better your reviews will be and the best reviews get ranked the highest. You are correct that businesses like these can require investments... search out the moderncastle affiliate site for an example and they purchase every single product they review, some being several hundred dollar items
