Because Jonny greenwood is a genius at experimental music. Both the theory and instrumentally. Thom has pretty much said this in interviews and it's why Jonny has an Oscar nomination for his scores.

New music is generally shallow and regurgitated. Radiohead on the other hand, are one of the greatest bands of ALL TIME, and most definitely of last 30+ years. I consider them a modern Beatles of sorts, being so fantastic they invent, adapt, change, and yet are so brilliant they do not sound as if they rewrote and older hit album. Their music and Thom's lyrics are insightful, and hold so much gravity that it weighs down ones soul to the essence of being an emotional, sentient being. Radiohead has personally helped me through some rough times and influenced my Art. Salvador Dali said "A true artist is not one who is inspired, but one who inspires others"

@gpeddino9 жыл бұрын
Borjan Gagovski Must be kinda hard to play that bass line so many times without a pick.
@mediocrefunkybeat9 жыл бұрын
+Borjan Gagovski It's quite a sharp tone for him and there are quite a lot of notes in quick succession. It's do-able with fingers but easier to do with the right tone with a pick.

But every other performance of this song which I've seen, he uses fingers. I don't know what gives

Saw them live the same year 2003 at this beautiful place, Nimes Roman Arena. Amazing live performance for sure, still remember it very clearly ! The supporting band was "Low" (Got almost all theirs albums) and some stupid wankers at the front kept screaming "Radiohead" all the time while showing some disrespect to the band on stage...Such a pity...! Radiohead is surely a great band and even if "Low" is not in the same category, it deserved some kind of respect !

I just realized I don’t actually know what this song is about, I just appreciate it for the musicianship. Radiohead’s verbal messaging typically plays a big part in my perception of their tracks, as Thom’s a great lyricist, but not for this one. I’m just entranced at how they all come together so well.

Ive realized that this might be my favorite RH song of all time. It feels wrong to say it, tho, because- for the love of god-ever since ok computer I’ve been a RH junkie cracked out on music. Then I randomly discovered Apparat and became a huge fan- which led to Modeselektor and then holy shit- Thom started working with Modeselektor and then apparat and Modeselektor got together as Moderat- like a big old cluster fk of all my favorites combining- what are the chances?
