....Wow. Best I've seen from her. The staging is great in and of itself, but her acting gives it real power. I think she was wise to skip the ornamentation. She's not a coloratura, which makes it harder to pull off that kind of thing. She really plays to her strengths here, and it makes for an extremely strong performance. I will watch this for hours.

@@oeschertube she’s never had much of a thrill so it doesn’t surprise me that she would let that go. But in my mind, she is out of tune here and there, which is more problematic to me.

During the Julliard master classes, I remember Callas stressing the dramatic nature of this role, making clear that it calls for a dramatic coloratura. Several people on here have said that Ms. Netrebko is not a coloratura, and I would have to agree. As for dramatic dimension, does Anna Netrebko have a chest voice and/or does she ever employ it in her singing? It would certainly have enhanced the dramatic quality of this role.

la Ricciarelli di Rovigo1984...e la Maria Chiara Torino nel 1982 se la mangiano a pranzo e a cena...che in quanto a bellezza scenica la superano senza e ma.Infatti l'anno dopo si è ben guardata di cantarla Alla Scala e anche nel 2017.Come ho già scritto ormai sembra il cinema con la colonna sonora.' Una buona cantante non fa un interprete somma ...necessaria a questi ruoli.

I always found her overrated and never knew what do people actually see in her... But now I know. Wonderful! PS. She looks so cute! Especially at the beginning (after about 0:10), I don't know if it's this girly hairdo;) or the faces she's making, but it also somehow made me think different about her. Positively.

Mah ... canta indietro, modula male, i fiati sono scomposti e strilla spesso. Basta accontentarsi... un soprano non si giudica dal lancio di un acuto finale. Si tratta di accontentarsi o meno di un soprano che vale metà del suo cachet, in certe opere la comprimaria cantava meglio di lei...

Her diction is not the best; she doesn't have the low register to pull off Bolena's Mad Scence and she skips all the written trills. Why did she even bother to 'sing' the role? Bel canto is not for her.
