she was indeed married to Liam Hemsworth. They dated for ages and i still believe he's the love of her life. But, as she says in this song (and others from this album), she can't give him what he wants, even though she loves him she is a free sould and i think she feels trapped being in a relationship and she gets scared when shit gets real. you'll see throught the album how she references that feeling and how she references liam in almost all of her songs. they were engaged for a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally long time and i think it was cause miley was scared. they got married when their house burned in a fire in Australia because went into a carpe diem state. but i have a feeling that's what went wrong: she felt anxious, she felt trapped, she didn't feel free. she loves him, but she's not relationship material (at least for now). I DO WISH THEY'D END UP TOGETHER IN THE FUTURE THO, i love them. also, in 2013, when the "new" miley showed up and shocked the workd, they broke up for several months, and i think it was for the same reason. she loved him, but she needed to be free in that specific moment. they got back together cause obviously they still loved each other. ps ALBUM OF THE YEAR

For me, this song is about the subconscious words that are never spoken by a narcissist. They are broken/lost souls, and they take it out on others, bringing them to their knees, making them wish they’d never met. The aftershock of narcissist abuse is so horrific. The reason they are this way is because they don’t believe in themselves. “Angels like you can’t fly down here with me” - because a narc truly lacks self worth. “Misery loves company” - a narcissistic will drag people down into their misery to feel empowered. It is never the fault of the non-narcissist. They cannot fix or do anything. The victims are often co-dependent, wanting the narcissist to validate their worth. “It’s not your fault I ruin everything, and it’s not your fault I can’t be what you need” Narcissists can never be healed. Codependents are healed via their desire to ease the pain of their inner wounds, that were brought to light from their greatest teacher, the narcissist. A lot of emotion in this song.
