Dd S Of course it's waste of time. Jesus Christ rose from the dead and promised us the Holy Spirit. Now I have a personal relationship with God, which is subjective, based on objective grounds: philosophical, historical and empirical. What's your objection now?

@Dd S Why is Jesus' resurrection fairy tale? Multiple attestations, early manuscripts of the New Testament, eye-witness accounts, disciples who were ready to give their lives to spreading the truth and the internal witness of the Holy Spirit and you say fairy tale? Do you have a better explanations for the facts? The disciples witnessed they saw Jesus resurrected. What's the best explanation of these facts?

@Dd S Why don't you grab at least "The case for the Resurrection of Christ" and try to refute those claims? The resurrection of Christ is a historical fact, He sent the Holy Spirit and now we are without excuse before God. Do not dismiss so easily because God gave us enough evidence in order to seek after Him. The relationship with the Holy Spirit is something real and very profound. I admitted alreadzy that this is something subjective but since it is subjective you do not know what kind of experience it is and it is unfalsifiable. So, you cannot say my experience is unjustified. The only thing you can show is to point some falsehood in my objective reasons to believe. So far you just threw some baseless accusations: "legend", "fairy tale" and so on.

@Dd S You don't seem to read at least one book from our side, like I mentioned above: The case for the resurrection of Christ. Apostle Paul got his information for Peter, James and other disciples who really saw Jesus. The Gospel of John is written by somebody who witnessed Jesus. You don't even read the Bible and just throw words after words trying to disprove what? Bring a positive case that the New Testament is false, that the resurrection of Christ is a fairy tale indeed. The authors of the NT claimed they saw Jesus. What are you arguments to deny it? What were their motives to lie about the fact? Excruciating death? We have tons of manuscripts of the New Testament, as I said, and multiple attestations. Jesus will come soon to judge the world you better seek the truth to be saved and have the eternal life.

The Resurrection argument only works if these people actually saw Jesus alive again (with their eyes) after his death since that is the only way to verify that an actual resurrection had taken place. If the "appearances" of Jesus were not veridical then the Resurrection argument fails. Therefore, the burden of proof is on the Resurrection proponent to demonstrate that the "appearances" of the Risen Christ were veridical. Paul is the earliest and only source written firsthand who says "Jesus appeared to me" and the appearance to him was some sort of "revelation" from heaven - Gal. 1:16 which he does not distinguish from the other appearances in 1 Cor 15:5-8. In 1 Cor 15:5-8 the word for "appeared" is ὤφθη (ōphthē) which is the aorist passive form of ὁράω (horáō). Note how this word doesn't necessarily mean to see with the eyes. ὁράω 1. to see with the eyes 2. *to see with the mind, to perceive, know* 3. to see, i.e. become acquainted with by experience, to experience www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?t=kjv&strongs=g3708 horáō - properly, see, *often with metaphorical meaning: "to see with the mind" (i.e. spiritually see), i.e. perceive (with inward spiritual perception)."* biblehub.com/greek/3708.htm So without reading in the stories from the later gospels and Acts, what argument can be given that the resurrection appearances were originally understood to be visually confirmed physical encounters with the Resurrected body of Jesus? Since the Greek word can mean physical or spiritual seeing and the fact that these people claimed to "see" things in visions and dreams quite regularly www.openbible.info/topics/dreams_and_visions then any claim that they "saw" Jesus is simply a non-starter. Note: Any appeal to the later gospels and Acts is a tacit admission that Paul (the earliest and only firsthand source) gives no clear evidence for the physical/veridical type of seeing.

What is “seeing” but indirect evidence? It is the mind’s interpretation of the signals send from the retina of the eyes, which received merely the light (imperfectly) which was reflected off of a physical object, which can be solid, gas or liquid. Seeing is overrated. There are other ways to comprehend reality, many superior to seeing.

Obviously this wasn't a talk about theology, and it's nice you and Gary are great friends. My two-theology-cents: Along with repentace of sin, proper water-baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins per Acts 2: v38 which agrees with Acts 19: v1 thru v7 ... is ... one of the most important connections to Lord Jesus Who demonstrated a power that only He controls; the power of resurrection. Proper water-baptism isn't just important ... it's mandatory per Mark 16: v16. As many scholars like Abdu H. Murray will say: If Jesus died and stayed dead we have every reason not to believe Him. But since Jesus died and was risen, we have every reason to believe only Him. As well, Lord Jesus started His three-year earthly ministry by being water-baptized ... then coming up out of the water received a second and separate Spiritual baptism ... followed by being led into the wilderness and fasting forty-days. I wonder if you like a lot of other Christians say: water-baptism is not a requirement to becoming born-again in Lord Jesus ? Wondering if you or Gary know the difference between titles-baptism and baptism in the name of Jesus ?

@@pastorbills8039 I say: Lord wasn't born again, He was demonstrating how to be born again of water and Spirit. John 3: v34 ....For He [Lord Jesus] Whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God. For God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto Him. 1 John 5: v6 ... This is He that came by water and blood even Jesus Christ. Not by water only but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness because the Spirit is truth. We are made in the image of God from birth: soul, personality, morals, logic, sense of beauty, likes and dislikes, etc. And we only become children of God when we choose to follow Lord Jesus and become born again of water and Spirit. John 3: v5 ... Jesus answered: Verily verily I say unto thee. Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Only adults can know what is sin and the need for repentance, and to believe in the gospel. Infants cannot know those things. So yes, water baptism is a requirement as in Mark 16: v16. And we see all the occurances of water baptism in the Book of Acts.
