Military mom surprises son at college graduation

Graduation is one of life's special moments. For one college student, the ceremony delivered a surprise guest.
Malik Heard’s mother, Sgt. Eva Roby, who has been deployed in Kosovo with the National Guard and wasn't expected home until later this year, said she’s had to miss some important moments over the years - but she refused to miss her son's college graduation.

Oh, so happy for both of them that she could be there on such an important day for him (Mom, too!). Really heartwarming.❤ And big congratulations to him for earning that important degree! Yes! I recently experienced this when my son will transfer with honors to CAL Berkeley this Fall! He hugged me and I returned his hug! There was no doubt re the love he has for me and I for him! Though his dad was present, as he was at our daughter’s graduation), those who observed us were in tears! When I inquired as to why? To observe a son’s show of genuine affection, an African American son at that, was heart-felt. Two of the senior Security Specialists patted my son on the back, congratulated him, and encouraged him! So yes, when a man has no problem demonstrating outward love and affection for his mom, LADIES, take notice!
